Another Academy is in the books and the 2012 edition was by far the best one yet. This year Lone Star Holidays was joined by the team from DIY Light Animation and the Dallas/Fort Worth Friends of Halloween to bring you three days of learning, socializing and sharing. Computer controllers, tech people, software gurus, Santas, haunters, pyromaniacs, and every other facet of the holidays were represented at this year’s Academy. With 223 people (from 2 countries, 24 states, and over 100 cities) on hand there has never before been one event that brought so many folks together from across the hobby. It was a very special weekend and one that the attendees will not soon forget.
Typically there is some time between the end of one Academy and the announcement of the next so that we can rest a bit and recharge. It is important to remember that Lone Star Holidays is a non-profit organization that is run strictly by volunteers so the planners need some down time when it is all over. But as we got closer and closer to the start of this year’s event we felt a surge of excitement that we just could not ignore. And so we have a very special announcement to make:
REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN FOR THE 2013 ACADEMY!
We’re coming back to the Lone Star Convention Center in Conroe, a facility that accommodates us well and has become our “home†in many ways. The dates are July 12th to the 14th, 2013 (Friday, Saturday, Sunday). Registration is just $60 once again so make your plans to join us. It is going to be a great time for everyone and is well worth it. But don’t take our word for it. Take your cues from the folks who were here this year…
On day two of the Academy we announced the opening of the 2013 event. We thought we would get a few diehards but even we were blown away by the response.
We have over 50 people registered already and 5 vendors committed to attend again. This is just amazing and a testament to how good the Academy is every year.
