360 Degree LED Lights
« on: November 05, 2012, »
I just came across these on Ray's site.

Would these work properly with the SSC?

they "look" like they are built circuit wise like a plastic rectangle (1804+3 rgbleds) but if i wanted to get these, i'd start with a really small sample in case they don't work out.
To rule the entire tri-state area!  What's that? Perry the Platypus!!!

They'll need waterproofing if outdoors, but those could be great on a Christmas tree indoors.

It would definitely be harder to cut out a bad node, but you could actually put the splice inside the ball.

outwardly these look a lot like the Minleon nodes that were at the academy.  they were very nice because they could withstand a lot of force (300lbs?).  The plastic nuts were used to hold the 2 halves of a plastic sphere.  when opened, there was a water-proof led module that was inline to the wire.
if they are identical, these lights were very nicely built.  it would be great to hear how samples turn out.

They are, Ray sends me stuff to look at once in a while and I have some of these. If you unscrew the nuts and open the ball you can spray the pcb with the 3M spray I have been using lately and put them back together.

and it makes them impreverious to water. the ball can fill up if it leakes and they still work.

Awesome, thanks! I didn't see listed how far apart the balls are. Looks like about a foot?
