I am checking for interst in another coop for the Aether II.
To help me out please post in this thread if you know you would order on a new coop with the number you would order.
The kits may not be sent out in time for you to build and have them ready this season. The leds are backordered. The lead time has dropped form 10 weeks to 5 weeks so we could maybe have them out in 9 weeks considering a week for coop / week for payments / 5 weeks for parts / 2 weeks to sort and send and get there.

I would buy 3. I had asked in another thread if an led with amber could be substituted if it would get them here any faster. I don't know what an amber led would do but I don't think I would use the white led anyway. Just rely on the rgb combo to make white. I think this floodlight is the most powerful out there at an incredible price. If the led can't be substituted that still gets them here around Thanksgiving. So it would still be doable for this season.
-
I would like one to try out. Would it have all the lense options etc that the last coop had?
-
I would order at least 6. And not sure if I would care if the color was white or amber, as would probably only ever use the RGB for shows.
-
It would be RGB and White no amber.
The thanksgiving date I can not promise.
We would offer the lenses on the coop.

Heck ya. I didn't even realize I missed this Co-op...
I'd take 5...
AND... If someone doesn't pay up, I'd be willing to jump in and "take care of that" for them also...
-
Thanks, RJ. I'd be in for a couple (2).

I would probably be in for another 3 as well.

Thanks RJ for getting another coop going on the Aether 2!

I would be in for 2 of the kits.

Depending on when you held it I would like to get two.

I might go for 2 or 3 more

I might go for 2 me too

I would be in for 3
-
Would like at least 4, six if possible
-
I would get at least 2, but knowing me I would probably get 6.
-
I am sure that eventually I will but probably 10 more. But I am going to wait until I have built the first two that I have already ordered - to check everything out. So I probably would not buy any more this year, but would like to see a coop early next year.

I would take two.

I would take 2 or 3 depending on what funds are left for the year - had to go another route when I didnt make it in the 1st coop.

I'm interested in knowing the protocol here... why is this coop not under ...
DiyLightAnimation » Store » Current Coop's
I wouldn't normally check out each group, and so I'd end up missing this and other coop offers.

Because THIS thread is not a COOP. RJ just started the thread to get a feel of how many would be ordered if a COOP becomes available late this year.
-
Would get 1 but would reserve the option for a 2nd if the budget for xmas allows it.
-
I'd be interested in 3.
Thanks RJ.

I would be in for 2.

Looks like there is lots of interest...
I'd be in for 3

Well see the problem is that we did not even hit 100 in this post so that would not hit the minimum order point I have for the led's now. Know in the past the post asking about a coop gets more listed orders than the coop when it gets posted and I would need 100 to even be able to order the parts. The good news is the leds dropped about $5 so that is a direct savings on when we do have enough for another coop.

RJ, if another coop will not be started any time soon, will circuit boards for the Aether II be available after the coop closes.
-
No only the coop pcbs are order at this time.

I'd be in for 2 as well.
the problem is that we did not even hit 100 in this post
I don't think this topic has (or gets?) the visibility that the Current Coops topic does. The first filled up in 12 hrs?<--- probably because of subscriptions to that topic! (it would be interesting to see how many people are subscribed Current Coops vs the other topics...) Anyway, I doubt the interest was satisfied that quick. Sure, not having them by Christmas might be a deal breaker for some, but I see the Aether2 as a year-around prop.
Maybe look at starting a coop under the premise that it has to reach the minimum in order to go forward?
-
I have notification set for COOP's. That would be the reason I got in on the Aether II. Actually, I missed it by one and someone was kind and gave me one of there Aether II. It is very surprising to me there is not a bunch more interest. I only add 1 to this thread, because I did not want to be a Aether Hog. I would really have a need and want for 2 more. I would use them year round for general house lighting and even during certain holiday. Just my thoughts. I would love to see another coop anytime we can.
Thanks, Kevin

Actually, at this point it does make sense. The last coop was hit hard because the people in it want to use them for this season. There is no guarantee that this coop will complete in time for the season and indications indicate that it probably will not. So if I'm on a budget and most of us are, why spend big money on something that I can't use until next year when there are other things to buy that I can use now like light strings. I'm sure that a coop after the season will get a much larger responce
-
I for one would be willing to pay a little extra if there was a snowballs chance to get 3 before Christmas at least in time to shoot video. My rainbows floods I have now don't show up well enough especially red. So my videos look like blue, green, nothing. You would think the led supplier would not force a 100 order minimum since there probably would have been more ordered if they were available at the time of the 1st coop. Must be a special order part. Unfortunately I didn't know about the notify. Don't see how I missed it all this time. I think we are getting close to 100 so maybe a few more people will commit if etherdongles don't take all their cash. So many great products, so little cash!

Is it really that hard to understand? Maybe you have an endless supply of money for your hobbies but I do not. If I'm going to invest another $320 (4 aether kits) for this season, why would I spend it on something now that I can't use until next year. that money can buy a lot of other things that I can use this year such as LED light strings and I have plenty of time to buy things for next year after the season is over such as more Aether kits. I would rather spend the money now on the EtherDongle if it becomes available in time for the season.
-
I understand that view also tbone.
-
Thanks tbone321 for the finacial advice but I am not interested is spending money for the sake of spending money. RJ started this thread to see if it was possible to help the ones wanting Aether II's but did not get into the first coop and I thank him for trying. If it does not work out to start another coop anytime soon then I am fine with that. But I don't need other stuff because I have money burning a hole in my pocket. I have a plan for my display and I think I will stick with it.
-
This conversation seems to be taking a turn for the worse and I hope that it's simply a matter of mis-communication. I'm not trying to give you or anyone else financial advice or how to spend their money. Someone was wondering why this pre-coop check is not piling up a larger number of orders, especially after the actual coop filled up so fast and I simply gave a reasonable explanation for it. It is the reason why I didn't put in a pre-order post and I do want a few more Aethers. Since this coop is unlikely to be completed in time for this season, I will spend my money on what I can use this season and wait for another Aether coop next year to order them and I suspect that others are doing the same thing, resulting is a lower than expected pre-order number.
-
I have to agree with tbone. As much as I really want 6 Aethers, I'm done with the big display purchases until next year and will be concentrating on light strings.
Any chance of this coop happening in the Feb-March timeframe?
-
I'd be in for at least two....
-
Am I too late to the party? I'm in for at least 2 but 5 is what I am aiming for!!
-
Yeah sorry the coop was started and closed a while ago and people already got their orders.
This post was just to see if there was interest.
