Thanks for putting together a coop so quickly.
I have two questions:
- are the acrylic lenses included? If not, do you have a link to a supplier?
- do you have a suggestion for the ration of kits 2 to kit 1?
Thanks
...Doug.
Just looking at the total number of kit 1 vs. kit 2 ordered so far, it looks like an 'average' everyone is betting on is 3 kit 1's per kit 2. Is it reasonable to expect the consumables in kit 2 to do at least 3 kit 1's, possibly more? I hope so since I only asked for 1 kit 2 and 4 kit 1.
Also just wondering how the final kit 1 price is much more than originally thought- I'm not 'whining' just curious ;D
Does this include the wireless receiver?
If not, how do I get that and the transmitter?
I am still trying to decide if I want to get in on this or not. But it looks like it is well over the $5k limit already. Is there still time to get in?
I think I'm crazy for saying this, but sign me up for 5 of kit #1. As for kit #2, I'd like the correct amount to assemble 5 Aethers. Would that be 2 of kit #2s?
Any idea on when these would be delivered?
So does that equate to?
30M0599 Spot
30M0600 Tight Flood
32M7252 Medium Flood
And we would need 6 lenses per Aether?

The smaller the degree the tighter the light is focused, These lenses only fit one LED at at time so if you wanted all your leds to have the same lenses you would need 6 per aether.
Thanks for the "Power LED Illuminator" part numbers. These are quite inexpensive.
Do these just snap onto the LEDs, or is additional mounting hardware required?
Thanks,
...Doug.

They need nothing else they just snap on. You can do different patterns of them like 6 deg on the two middle ones makes a bright area stright ahead that fades some to the edges.
6 deg on the bottom three narrows the height so it does not send so much light down but gives you the same area up. For normal use no lens is all you have likely seen shown and works well for a large throw flood. If you have a smaller area to cover the lens gets you a lot more light on that area.

Hi,
If I can send the money on or after Tuesday, please put me down for 2 kit #1 and 1 kit #2.
Thank you,

<la.. Teach some of you to question my less than $100 quote! <wd..

Bill;
Have you recieved my PayPal for this Co-Op?
No Rush, Just making sure.
THANKS again for all you do!!!
Pete Peters
Why don't you show the payment received list on the order list like all the other CO-OPs? It would be so easy for all to see.
Did you receive my payment? I don't see a P next to my name.
--MrC
What kind of lead time is on some of the parts?
Currently there are enough LED's inbound for 43 kits. I will post a status on the remaining LED's when I have it.
I am willing to give all my LED's up and just wait for the others to arrive if needed.
Bill
OK first of all we are talking about Christmas lighting (A Happy-Giving time of the year ;)) so this is not life or death to me! I was really counting on using mine this year, but it is hard to plan for something that you don't have yet! If I could get one built, that would get me by for this year, but I am willing to wait if others are in more need of them. One question though, are the LEDs the only thing that is going to hold up this COOP? If so, is there another place to get the LEDs from (knowing that they are going to be more expensive)? I am sure that I will be building more Aethers than I have ordered, so I would be willing to order my LEDs direct and take the ones from the COOP later. Ok so that was two questions! Anyway you look at it, I can wait if needed!
I can wait as well since I am still in the early planning stages, but just would like to know one way or the other if possible so I can plan accordingly...thus my previous post.
Also, I have not seen the BOM yet. Can someone point me to it? I thought it was supposed to be posted in the COOP somewhere, but I must have missed it. Or is it in the Wiki? Will have to go back and read the coop rules as I don't remember if they said where to look or not.
Thanks,
-Keith
Well I for one appreciate those who can wait, but the Aethers were going to be my "main" addition to my show this year. Since I am still in the building up my show phase (do you ever really get out of this stage btw? ;D) these would help.
Bill how are you going to do that since Mousers lead times are sometimes accurate and other times under/over stated? Are you going to ship out some kits early or just wait until everything is in? Seen the posts above reference it, but no "official" reply.
Curious as it helps me plan "something" for this year as I was planning on using the Aethers for Halloween also (purple / orange and white for lightening effects... :D ) and wanted to start doing some sequencing work for it.
Thanks in advance
I am still placing part orders as this is a big Co-Op, other parts than just the LED's are on Back Order but have small lead times. I will not know how things are going to pan out until all parts orders are placed and I have an ideal of what is where.
Bill
Parts are on order. The LED's are still under a 12 week lead time, but many members have said they can hold off, I need to see if there will be enough to send at least one set out to all the remaining members.
Bill
BO dates updated
Bill
I'm dyin' here on my honeymoon in Italy, waiting for the backordered LEDs to come.
P.S. The Gelato in the tiny towns of Varenna and Bellagio is much better than the stuff in Venice which reminds me of just regular ice cream. :P
Received shipping notice that another 250 LED's are on the way.
Bill
I would swear I just saw the lights dim. Must be everyone trying out their griddles/frying pans...
I would come over to help if I could... BTW... where are you located?
Funny how we all thought it was the specialized and high-tech LEDs that were going to delay the shipments to co-op members. As it turns out, it's just the eco-plungers.
Shipping notices have been sent out in prep for the Eco-Plungers arrival this week.
Please be sure to include your Forum ID with your payment and select "Goods" in the payment options.
As soon as I get the plungers and your shipping payment I will get your box packed and sent out to you.
Thanks
Bill
All but two packages have shipped.
Bill
I got a second email saying mine was cancelled - the postage was destroyed. ???
I am happy to have all theses boxes out of my house.
As of today all kits have shipped.

Now to find those 5x magnifier glasses so that I can place those dots correctly.

As happy as I am about the kits being shipped out, I'm kind of bummed that the PIC chips still have to be programmed, since I don't have a PIC programmer. Now I have to drive an hour to go to someone's place to get it done. It would be nice if the PIC chip was soldered in using the through-hole technique, from what I understand like the way LEDs and connectors for the PIC programmer are installed. If you have some through hole stuff to install anyways, why not the PIC chip as well so it could have been pre-programmed?
Or am I missing something here?

P.S. Any Canadians here who had stuff shipped to them in Canada directly? Ever deal with duties, taxes, brokerage fees, and all that BS... or is it not as bad as it used to be? I'd like to know for future reference and future orders, because a hassle-free shipment to my place in Canada would have been sweet for my Aether order.
Here is an updated copy of the Aether Parts Legend.
You will be missing one 1.0K resistor from the kit. But this is not a show stopper, the 1.0K is used in two places on the PCB one for the Green Led the Other for the Mosfet that controls the optional fan. If you are not going to use the optional Fan you are OK, if you are going to use the Fan you will need to get another 1.0K resistor.
The 1.0K that is tied to the fan Mosfet is the R3 that is to the right of the Pic chip next to the Mosfet. The one that works with the green LED is the R3 that is next to the spot for the green LED. The kits were only charged for one 1.0K resistor not two.
Bill
Added the R7 sorry for missing it.
