I started playing with my iDMX unit and LOR s2.  One thing I noticed was if I had the lights turned on and pulled the DMX cat5 cable the lights remained on.

Does the firmware shut off the circuits (lights) after so long with no DMX signal?

I believe that in both cases the lights will remain in the state of the last valid DMX packet received.

I tested a LOR ctb16pc in both standard mode and DMX and it shuts down after about 2 seconds of the signal being pulled.  My fear is if I have a signal loss I could have a bunch of lights stuck on until it's corrected.

I would think if the Data Link = Off then Triacs = off.

This probably isn't a problem but with the wireless setup if could be more of an issue.

I'm sure RJ will have the definitive answer when he sees this.

The issue with the wireless is that your RX is the dongle on that side of the link so it is always sending out data. The question becomes is it receiving updates.

That even happens in Vixen, stop a sequence in mid stride, and whatever lights were on when the sequence was stopped, is how the lights will stay until another command is given.

My base question I guess is if Data link = No,  should lights = on.

I don't have any wireless gear yet.

Not unless you told them to be on and then turn off your transmitter. Then they will never be told to turn off. To try and explian it differently.

Vixen for example and most other software sends out updates when you tell the lights to change. The software only sends when there is changes. So if you unplug power from your computer with lights on the lights will not go out. They will not change since they have ot been told to do so.

Hope this helps.

If you are using the LOR IDMX-1000 to convert the LOR output to DMX for the Lynx LE,  then if you loose the DMX signal for 2 seconds the lights will go out.

If you loose power to the IDMX then all lights will come on.

This was not my experience last night with the iDMX and LE.  I need more time playing with everything to get a better comfort level on how things operate.

mmmm ... That may not be so good - if you are tapped on power or blow fuses.

One good thing is where you can get power for the IDMX, either from a Wall Wort, or off another LOR product like a CCR, Controller, etc.  Both the Wall Wort  and power from another device can be connected to the IDMX and if you loss one the other takes over.

That is my setup in my workroom.  I like to test everything to understand how it will work. Saves time outside trying to figure out why something is not working.
