SSC V3 Addressing- What am i doing wrong
« on: November 16, 2012, »
I have SSC V3 Mod. When i ran the test firmware it cycled thru the colors as it should.
I then set the standards V3 Mod Firmware and test to see if it works. It is automatically set to start channel 1, so im getting all the colors from 1- 360 on my flexstrip. I then program the SSC with the Smart String utility to start channel 513 an no lights are on. I have the Active up on Pixelnet 1, uniiverse 1 and DMX universe 1. I change the universe to 2 and still no lights. What am i doing wrong?

When you program in the address and other options. Did you move the jumper to program? and when it was done did you move it back and do a power cycle? (i.e. remove the cat5 cable and then plug in back in)

When i did programing of firmware and address i had the jumper ON. When i was done i moved it back to a single connection. I then connected it back to the hub. From what your saying i should of diconected the cat5 from the ssc and reconected after i connected the cat5 to the hub. Ill try that when i get home.

as along as there is a power cycle after programming (remove the cat5 cable between the hub and SSC) it doesn't matter which side is disconnected and then reconnected

If thats the case, when i had the show playing with the conductor all the LE lights and one out of two aethers where flashing lights, but the FLexible String wasnt so i moved the cat5 from one output to another on the hub and still no lights.

What are others using, etherdongle or dongle?

When addressing with the dongle, should the green light turn on?

With the SSC connected to the hub, set the jumper on.  Turn on the power and using the SS Utility transmit the new channel.  All of the lights on the SSC should flash white.  Turn off power, set the jumper back to off.  Now when you reapply power, the channel should be set.  You can also just connect and disconnect the Cat5 vs. turning off the power, but I prefer no to connect / disconnect Cat5 while the hub is on.

You can use either the Etherdongle or PixelNet dongle to program the SSCs.  You cannot use the conductor or the Lynx DMX dongle.  I believe the green light should be on, but with PixelNet may not be flashing like it does when using DMX.

correct  PC or Network TO EtherDongle TO Hub TO SSC . the power for the SSC's comes from the Hubs.

Ok. Progress, I got the address correct, but now the hole string turns on with one channel and the rest of the channels don't do anything.

For flexible strip do I choose flexible ribbon?

assuming you have a full flex strip...

EtherDongle
Individual Pixels
Forward
NodeCount 120
Null 0
Grouping 1
Type Flexible Ribbon
To rule the entire tri-state area!  What's that? Perry the Platypus!!!

That's how I have it set up.
Could it be because I have the controller set up as e1.31 opposed to pixel net in LSP?

In LSP you need to have it setup as E1.31.

Do you have your controller output configured?  Load the default for the Etherdongle and uncheck the channels not being used.

Based on your description, if the whole string turns on with one channel, it sounds like you don't have individual pixels set when you programmed using the SS utility as Chris points out.
