Title: TM 1804 RGB lights string four wire system.

I know here at DLA uses a three wire system with the controllers and RGB strings are used.
I noticed some TM1804 RGB strings use a four string system. Can the four wire system be used with the DLA system?

Is there a problem using a 24 volt RGB string with a convertor? I know you would have to bypass the DLA controllers power line.

In most of the 4 wire systems, the fourth wire is used as a clocking signal which is used to sync the string with the control signal.  Our controllers do not provide this timing signal so it is unlikely that these strings would work with out system.

i asked Ray about this and this was his reply.

 
actually,there are two wires of four for GND.
so if your controller has only 3 ports, you can put the two wires of gnd together.

The problem is that your questrion is too general.  As I said before, most 4 wire systems use the 4th wire for a clocking signal and these will NOT work with our controllers.  This set according to Ray is isolating the signal ground from the power ground but that is uncommon.  Since it appears that there are multiple types of 4 wire sets, what you need to do is get the model number of or a link to the string that you are looking at and ask if anyone has tried that specific set.
