I know a lot of people are using a marine battery box to house their active hubs. Somewhere in the forum I saw some pictures of a good mounting solution that I wanted to implement too.
I got mine all finished with pictures below. Ask any questions if you've got them.

There's no right or wrong material.
The grid is a fluorescent light diffuser.
Machine screws through the hub and secured on the backside with a washer and nut.
3/4" wood dowel rod for the legs which are secured to the grid with regular drywall screws and a wide washer.

LOL, it's not a matter of right or wrong, it's simply a matter of some of the readers not knowing what you are using or where to get it, like the light grid that you mentioned.

All materials can be found at home depot or any home improvement store.

Here is mine. I had lots of left over pvc pipe pieces from making props. I noticed the little v grooves in the ends of the box. Cut two pieces of pvc to be an exact fit. Just screwed one side of the board to one piece of pvc since the holes would not line up, but it turns out that works pretty good because if I need to reach under the board to turn off power I can just pivot the board up and don't have any problems with the length of the cords on the power supply. This photo is the one at my workbench, but all of my boards are mounted the same way. The blue tape on the board is where I have blown the fuses while testing. I guess I should fix those since this is my backup unit and I use 15 ports on my outside active hub.
