Title: TM1803 VS TM1804

Hi,
Can we use TM 1803 chips instead TM 1804 chips ?
I ask this because i found some strings, but they are only TM 1803 chipped.

I was answered by the supplier, same controler can manage both as these chips are the same family very close one from the other one.

Some feedback please....

Nope.

They may work and they may not. The ssc puts out 800khz 180x data. Even other strings with the 1804 may not work.

The ones linked toon the wiki have been tested and work reliably.
If you choose alternate sources, it is at your own risk.

Also, the ssc puts out 12 volts. The 180x chips can be set for anything from 5 to 24 vdc.

I will pick some to test and let you know...

The found ones are 12v direct from manufacturer at $18 piece (ribbon 5 meters/waterproof).
So the risk to try some is very limited.
In the worth case, i will use them with standard DMX controller using these chips.

the 1803 is not compatible with the 1804, 1809.   the manufacturer had a different intended purpose for this chip, and ended up messing up their part numbers from it. And even Ray will tell you not to use the 1803 stuff.

The TM180x uses a 3 bit encoded timing signal to transmit each actual data bit. for a 0 we send 100, for a 1 we send 110. So the BPS is actually the encoding bit speed not the data bit speed. according to our reading of the documents in english and chinese for the TM180x chips their should be 4 different settings:

TM1804 - low speed = 1000kbps,  high speed = 2000kbps. most of the modules we've tested with work at 2000

TM1803 (http://www.ledlightinghut.com/tm18031ic-digital-led-light-strip.html) - low speed = 1666kbps, high speed = 3333kbps. this is theoretical based on the docs. we do not have any 1803 in house for testing.
