I'm still working on mine.

Planning to put up the lights on Sunday Sep 30th 2012, so about 10 weeks to go.

I have 4 completed sequences and working on two more which should be finished in a couple of weeks.

I have:
Light Show Pro
25 x LED Flexstrips (cut to various lengths)
1 x Etherdongle
2 x Smart String Hubs
2 x 16 Channel DMX AC Controllers
1 x Pumpkin Singer (5 channels)
3 x Pumpkin backing Singers
8 x LED Flexstrip backing Singers
2 x Light Sticks (8 foot tall and 8 channels each)
2 x Firelights
6 x White Spotlights
5 x 25ft Cat 5 cables
10 x 50ft Cat 5 cables
10 x 75ft Cat 5 cables
2 x 100ft Cat 5 cables
Loads of extension cords
1 DMX Chauvet Scorpion RGY Laser (on order, but plan to control/connect it via DMX to the Smart String Hub)

So much to do, so little time  <fp.

So, what's everybody else planning for Halloween 2012?

I will be focusing more on my halloween show this year and less on christmas.

my plans include:

12 flex strips around the house roofline and sides.

6 Aether II's for wall washing

Full graveyard and smoke machine

3 8ft by 8ft singing pumpkins

all hopefully running off of a conductor and etherdongle

also using 3 LE's for the faces and random items.

No songs sequenced yet as I need to build my flex strip mounting units to see the number of pixels per section.

Should be fun. My lights go live 1 week before halloween.

How you mounting your Flexstrips?

I zip tied mine to 1 inch Thin wall PVC pipe, then used these clips screwed to the sofits. Now I can just push the PVC pipe into the clips on my house:

thats actually an awesome idea. Where did you get those from? I have some extra house paint that I will be paint them and leave them up year round. The entire goal of this setup is for an easy setup and tear down.

Ordered them on-line from Ace Hardware (I used the large clips for the 1 inch PVC pipes):

I used one clip for every 2 feet of PVC pipe, then I screwed them to the sofits.

I have all my LED Flexstrips on racks in the Garage for testing. For set up, I can just carry the PVC pipes (with the Flexstrips zip tied to the PVC) and push them into the clips on the house. Set-up and take down is so easy and fast this way.

Even on my 2nd story, I can set up a ladder (I don't like heights much) and push them into the clips and use a long pole to reach the really high sofits.

I plan on using Halloween as a test run for Christmas.  New this year I will have RGB strings around the windows (where I had orange lights last year).  I have some other things I'm experimenting with.  My pumpkin pyramid will be back.  Debating incorporating a smart arch into Halloween.  Just need more time (and a real job) and I'm set!

Do you have pics from last year?  I'm debating on doing anything/much for this year.

What's your pumpkin pyramid, that sounds interesting!

I apologize for the videos in advance.  Shot on my iPod with a boombox in the bedroom window.

The pumpkin pyramid idea came to me while walking through Target and seeing the trick or treat pumpkins for $1.  Then a trip to the dollar store to get Christmas village lights.  I think it cost maybe $25-30 to build as I had some scrap wood that I used.

Looking back the sequences are very basic.  Last year was my first year to do any sort of show.  I guess that's part of the addiction... there's always more to do!

MMS, those pumpkins are brilliant, really like those alot  >.d9

I was talking to my son last night (he's 18), and he suggested the following song for a Halloween sequence.

I liked the song, so I'll be adding this to the sequence list (damn more work to do)  <fp.

Yes I need to edit out some blank on the end. Not sure why it rendered that way.

Comments welcome.

For 2012 I think if I have time I might change the mini pumpkins over to RGB lighting.

Here is one of my old sequences from 2009. Not sure why it was so popular but last year my daughters class at school was searching something on youtube and my video showed up as a recommended viewing. She recognized my dancing skeleton from the thumbnail and said "Thats my dads". I had a lot of classmates visit my show last year. My skeleton was a first try at creating a coro character. My next project was a singing, guitar playing, dancing Snoopy which was much more complex.  You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login
