These were shot just before dusk. I spent a lot of time trying to get better shots at night but they just are not acceptable.
Comments welcome.

that's pretty neat, it looks like you have a mega tree inside a mega tree
-
Great job Paul! A lot of nice elements to your show that cover the large yard nicely. I thought about the tree-in-tree at one time but never followed through...it really looks great. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the input guys!
The inner tree was my wife's idea. I think it looks good also.

Thats a great show.. ;D

Do tell how you made what looks like SS trees. I also found a new tune for my show. Mannheim Steamroller - Faeries. Also found some new ideas for arches.
Thanks for sharing.

Thanks. I'll look but I'm not sure I have any shots of that part of my installation.

How many nodes were on the tree's?

Very Nice!

Absolutly enjoyed the Faeries show. Some real cool effects on the smaller trees in the background
-
Very nice! You've set yourself up nicely in the physical design having a well layered set. The tree is an excellent centerpiece. You also composed well with your software. I like the variety of shorter and longer pieces. The music you selected works very well with your design. Excellent work!!

Here is a closer look at the SS mini trees. They are 72 nodes each. 8 legs by 9 nodes each. They are 30" diameter and the legs are also 30" long. They are this length because the 8 ft tubes were cut down to get 3 smaller tubes out of each one.
I must say I love the reflections in the tubes for each node. It seems to almost amplify the light.

The clear tube is a great idea. They do shine bright.

What size PVC did you use, and whats the length between each T? Also how did you hook the tops together, I am going to assume up go up 1 tube, out the top and down the next and over etc?
Thanks!

...keeps the nodes out of the weather also!

Paul- Ok, So I see that there are 8 legs with 9 nodes each. However, I see only 1 SS controller and 1 pig-tail from each mini-tree. Question is, How are the legs connected to the SS controller? Did you splice each of the 8 legs together?
-
I am going to attempt to make one and will split and go up on leg, out the down and down the next leg, then splice in a length of 3 conductor wire and go over thru the round bottom tube and up the next clear one and repeat....
My thought tho is how to keep water from going down the tops of the clear tubes.....

That's how I did it. videos are being uploaded now.
I just zip-tied a piece of rubber on top. I wanted to put a star on top of each but did not have what I needed to do it this year.
Check out these pics...

Paul,
Thanks so much for sharing. Your how to videos are GREAT. Thanks for taking the time and thanks to your helper too. :)
Just what we need for people who haven't taken the dive into SS yet.
Really informative. Thanks again.

Thamk you! It was my first programming attempt. Next year? SS trees lit up to look like candy canes that will travel across the entire yard...maybe.

Very well organized and great sequenced. This year I plan on doing a Nutcracker song as well. But, I'm not letting the cat out of the bag until the 2012 show. I hope I can get it done the way I want. Your video's and how-to's gave me some ideas and they are so good, I may try one or two things like what you did.
Very nice!
Thanks for sharing.
