My node mounting protype
« on: October 14, 2012, »
I will be replacing 3 strings of LED lights on my porch columns with 1 string of SS nodes.  I built a prototype for mounting them to the porch columns using a piece of vinyl J channel.  I cut an opening in the channel wide enough to insert the two wires from a bulb bent the cut piece up and trimmed off the part with the little lip. After inserting the bulb I pushed the wire into the little lip and bent down what was left of the cut tab to hold the bulb to the front of the J channel which also keeps the wire in the lip.  I just used an old short piece of J channel I had laying around to try this.  One thing I learned is that the bulbs are not necessarily evenly spaced so it pays to mark the cut location using the exact string you plan to use.  Hope this is clear to everyone.  Here are a couple of pictures.

I used JChannel to mount the nodes along my roof/gutter line.  I drilled holes every 3 inches and then put the node out through the hole keeping th wires on the inside kind if protecting them from the elements.

Been awhile since I did it.  If I remember right it was 1/2.  Here is a closer pic.

I have bolts in the eaves and then holes drilled in the jchannel that slid over the bolts and wing nuts to hold the jchannel on.  In my last picture you can see the wing nut towards the left of the jchannel.
