Title: multiple effects in SS
Post by: pugs1501 on January 12, 2011,
I was wondering if one SS could do multiple effects. For example can you set the first 25 nodes to red then the nodes 26 - 100 set to white chasing and node 101 through 128 to blue. I know I could cut the lengths of the cables to have three different controllers. Thank you in advance for any and all help.

Adam,

The short answer is yes.

Lots of programming/sequencing work but yes.

Smart String is amazing in it's ability to be compltelty independently addressed per node.
This means one node can be doing something say being on white while the node next to it is blue.
So the as long as you set up the animation of the chase effect you described in Vixen or LSP there is no limit to what you can do.
Here is a video of some of the effects Smart String can do http://www.vimeo.com/17207457

and this video is RJ explaining the way to animate the lights and how they are set up http://www.vimeo.com/16411893

Again the only limitation is as Paul said the amount of time you want to devote to setting up the animation.
