Title: You can use rgb floods in xlights
Post by: smeighan on August 11, 2013,
well, i discovered something in the current xlights.

If you build a horizontal model that is 1 string of 1 pixel, the preview will be one big circle. Use the ability to set the starting channel on your model to match your rgb flood you are all set.

Now add this model to your display elements and use colorwash as an effect. You can now include rgb floods in your nutcracker sequencing.

i am thinking how i can do my Lynx Express devices now.

In thsi example my flood starts at channel 1555

And maybe this would work with an LED or incan mega tree.  Now if we just had the ability to do chases......

yes, this would also work for any DSC or dumb rgb string.

chases are in our future...

I have 11 RGB floods that get spaced across the front of our house display for chases and wall washing etc.  This year I decided to experiment with xlight/nutcracker with these.  I set them up two single stings in xlights one of 5 lights and the other 6 lights just because of how the start numbers fall in my DMX set up.  Just using some random effects I found that I can get some fascinating effects from emulating strobes to color changing chases, all kinds of stuff through experimentation.  I've just been collecting effects and making notes of the different  settings to use in my various sequences.  Bottom line yes definitely rgb floods will do some great things while using xlights, I'm stoked up about it.    >.d9
