Birthday Girl.
« on: August 16, 2013, »
Well guys, its my daughters b-day. She's 20 today and I just wanna say she has come a long way. I am so proud of her and what a few years has done for her. She is now in her 3rd year of college at Moravian and has become so focused on HER future. She worked all summer (2 jobs with 50 hrs a week) just to pay her escape off so she could take it to college. I'm impressed with what she is doing and I thought maybe I could share it with ppl so they will know that kids do sometimes listen to what parents say. By the way, did I mention that I'm proud of Kayla? I'm not being mushy, just a very impressed and proud Dad.
Its the most wonderful time of the year.

Awesome post!!  I was worried about my kids as they were growing up as well.  Now 26 and 22, they still want to spend time with Mom and Dad going camping and shopping with Mom.  Son still lives at home and figures why move out, I have it made here!!!  Really cool to see them today.  Another Proud Dad  8)

BTW - Happy Birthday Kayla   :)

My children
Erin 41
Seumas 36
Mike 32
Anastasia 21
Dennis, Alex Twins, 12

We just went through the turbulent years with anastasia. Now, she is a wonderful person.
When she was a teenager I remember Erma Bombeck (You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login)
saying "Bury your kids at 13 , dig them up at 21".

Other quotes from her
"Insanity is hereditary. You can catch it from your kids."
"Never loan your car to anyone to whom you've given birth."
"There's nothing sadder in this world than to awake Christmas morning and not be a child."
"A child needs your love more when he deserves it least."

Before I had kids I used to look at a person and see them as solo unit.  Now that I have kids,  I look at a person as the son or daughter of someone else.

I see now first hand that you can never appreciate what your parents have done for you until you experience caring for a child.

I bet it's a real double edged sword.  Happy Kayla is thriving but sad to see your position waning.

Congratulations.

Great post! We have twin boys that will be 24 on Halloween. They both graduated college last spring and are very busy fighting fires for the forest service. We have been very blessed and are very proud of the both of them. Raising a family is the toughest job anyone will ever have AND the most rewarding as well!
Happy Birthday to Kayla!
