Title: Can someone explain how this works?

can someone explain how this works.  Is it a DMX signal?   Does the signal come from something another type of controller.  Just curious since I'm pretty new to the DMX world.

No it is not DMX, it uses it's own serial four wire protocol. It is like a smart shift register. It is what a lot of us have been playing with for addressable RGB pixels.
