For anyone in the Atlanta or surrounding area, GovDeals has 36 huge bags of white incandescent lights that are up for bid, high bid is $260 right now. Here is the link: https://www.govdeals.com/index.cfm?fa=Main.Item&itemid=965&acctid=588

Yeah, I've been watching that but it is about to blow past what I would pay for incans.
-
Yep, the only value there is whatever the copper is worth at the scrap yard.
-
$8 a bag for a giant bag o' lights seems like a good value to me.
-
Not if they're only in "fair working condition." Seems like you'd be buying a headache trying to find the short or the burnt out bulbs.

Not really if you have a buzz box.
It sold for $270. Was sure tempted but just didn't see an need for them.

What's a "buzz box?"

You can start repairing your defective lights instead of trashing them. It makes 'dollars and sense' to easily repair a set as opposed to throwing it away. Essential for lighting professionals and crews, this little box will pay for itself in no time.
NOTE: To reduce possibility of electrical shock when using this machine, avoid holding the string of lights in your hands while testing.

Looks like another "must buy!"
Thanks for the info!

Something that will make your hair stand on end. :)
No really if you touch the wrong thing when you push the button it will.
I bought one back in 2009 but they no longer carry it. The part number was sf-Model SF-102 Buzz Box String Light Tester.
It was discussed on this thread before.

Good luck finding one. There used to be several vendors but they seem to have dried up.
I googled for it without much luck.

Steve, my memory fails me, but I seem to remember someone on one of the forums creating something for LEDs, but it may have been a light keeper pro device, not sure, I will poke around and see if I can find the post and post it here if I find it.
-
Yep, Dennis Cherry made it, and sold it to the same people who made the light keeper pro, it should be available this year. Might be shown at The Academy, I'm not sure.
-
Thanks, that saves me the trouble of having to look for it. ;D
-
It's called the LED keeper, and should be available in June.

Ulta Lit (LED Keeper) will be at the Academy making these available for the first time.
