Title: Fuses between connector strips and power cords
Post by: urthegman on December 13, 2012,
What kind of in-line fuse can I put on the + side of my power cord between the connector strips and power cords that will help protect the triacs from frying????

Since the overwhelming cause of a bad Triac (affectionately known as a Blown Triac) is a dead short on the output power cord when the channel is told to turn on.

The Express fuses are to protect the board, not the Triacs, because a Triac dies so suddenly.

I'm not sure what fuse type you could put in-line that would reliably open before the Triac. But will definitely say Instant or Super Fast.

 - and then I looked at AutoZone

Bussmann  2 Amps AGC fast-acting glass tube fuse

and this In Line holder might do the trick. (AGC fuses come in many many amp sizes)

No fuse is going to protect them.  They will blow faster than just about any fuse under a dead short.  What you would need is a current limiter to keep the max flow below the Triac max current along with that fuse an that can get rather expensive.

Are you losing alot of them?  What causes them to blow?

If you got the bucks just put GFI's on each of the line's might protect them.
