Title: Light Show Pro pricing
Post by: RJ on March 27, 2009,
I have been working with them to get the plugin done for the Lynx Dongle in Light Show Pro. It should be ready soon.

But if you have not seen, they posted the pricing for it

http://www.lightshowpro.com/index.php?categoryid=20

and I am blown away at how resonable it is. The features are amazing I have played with the demo. It is pretty cool software. I am sending the company some equipment to test with so they can add a few goodies for us. This will be another option for us to use for software if you want to try something different. I am buying a copy of the pro version just so I can play with it. Will likely still use Vixen this year but thought it would be a nice new toy to play with. I like the Voice recoginition and live time scrubbing.

Interesting "Wii Controller Support" - wonder how that works?

Looks like maybe you can use the wiimote to tap out the time slices (or maybe tap in simple on/offs).  I played with it for a while yesterday and it does have some promise.  It's still too buggy in my opinion to try and dedicate a show to but hopefully they'll work it all out. I have an HD projector and outdoor screen so I'd love to be able to use it to sync video clips.  I tested the video and it does work as you would think. In dual monitor mode, the PC shows the LSP interface but directs the video to monitor 2 (projector).

You can also set it up and as you play the Wii drums or guitar it makes the lights go live time.

Vixen is adding this feature as well. It is already implemented, but wont be realeased until 2.5 is out.

I like the idea of the syn wave function and the variable time slices

Well I have been working with the Owner of Light Show Pro on the New Lynx Plugin.
It is coming along well! I have been running the Lynx stuff on it for him and he is tweaking it all. May be able to demo it at the GA mini this coming weekend.

I really like the feature that lets you seqence and then have the software make a video to show people what your seqence looks like.

Here is the test one he sent and I added some stuff. It is not suppost to be timed correctly or anything. It is just me goofing around.  Thought you guys would like to see it.

Notice how you can have spotlights in the previewer.

I hear the music but all I see is a static picture in the video - anyone else having this issue?

Thanks - Robb

A minute maybe? you just  choose the menu option to make a video of the animation and it does it all on it's own. No work involved.

RJ, Will we be able to use the wireless equipment with Light Show Pro? Have you tested that option?
Title: Re: Light Show Pro pricing

It does not know the difference.  The software all talks to the dongle to generate DMX. After that it has no idea what happens to it.

All my testing on LSP was done over the wireless since that is what I had hooked up.

would i be right in saying that you would need the "pro" version to get the lynx dmx siupport?

Id was playing with the LSP this morning..   could not properly configure a new controller (i.e. Freestyle).   The program apparently has difficulty understanding anything larger than 16 channels per controller (at this time).

Hopefully  they'll clean up this area soon.

The freestyle, express, Mr16, ETC is added in the RC2 that I am testing. It has no issues with it. It did originally seem to expect all the controllers to be 16 channels. That or I did not know how to operate it! LOL that could be the issue.

larry, I am one of the LSP developers.  If David hasn't responded to you yet, I can see about getting you RC2 to test with.

Thank you for the offer Monty.

I'm like a kid in a candy store with the leaps and bounds that have occured in lighting this year.

I have much yet to learn on sequencing but from what I've seen so far, LSP is making some of those leaps.

I can be patient and wait...........

Larry

(waiting)...........

Is it here yet??????

I have been playing with RC1 as well.  I'm especially interested in it because I have a projector and outdoor screen and really, really want to incorporate video in my show this year.  I would love to get my hands on RC2 if possible.

LSP RC2 now up for public download on the LSP web site (lightshowpro.com).  Now imports AL sequences if you got 'em plus some other enhancements.  Let us know if you have any issues.

Hi Folks

Last night after rmonty posted the RC2 was in the download section. I downloaded it for the first time and have been looking around.

First Question (of possible many questions)
What is the difference between a "New Animation Sequence" and  a "New Media Sequence" ?

Thanks

Rick R.

I am not the expert but we have them here on DLA now so they might be able to correct me.

The difference I believe is the "New Animation Sequence" is when you want to control lights without media like music, video, etc. It is just lights being controller to time not to music.

The "New Media Sequence" is what we do where you add a sound track and then seqence to it.

Am I correct guys?

I've been playing with the demo version.  The software looks cool, but I can't get it to actually turn my lights on. ???

Has anybody got it to work?  I have the com port set right and everything works with Vixen.

Make sure and turn on the output by clicking on the enable output button on the very top toolbar.  Demo mode will only drive 16 channels.  Let me know if that doesn't work and we will troubleshoot some more.

Output is enabled.....still nothing.

Controller start channel is set to 1.  Com port is set.  I have tried setting it up as a "Lynx MR16 Controller", and just as a "DMX Pro Universe".  I'm sure its something simple that I'm missing.

I am liking the software though! :D  Looks like I'm gonna need to add some ram to the show computer  ::).

Thanks,   Kyle

If you don't mind waiting until this evening, I can probably help a little more.  I'm at my "pay the bills" job right now and don't have a computer with LSP on it nearby.  Also, your show computer should require a lot less than your sequencing computer.  We now save an optimized copy of the sequence you create for the show to play.

It's working!

When it wasn't working for me, I was doing a "Animation sequence".  I tried a "Media sequence" and it worked.
