Title: ***********CLOSED Lynx Wireless Parts Only Kit Co-Op**************

This Co-Op is for parts only for the Lynx Wireless options

It is open to all DLA members.

It is open on the option that if any issues show up in beta it may be put on hold or closed out without the ordering of the parts.

This co-Op does not have a qty limit but will operate under the Co-Op cap of $5,000.00.  This cap can be adjusted with permission of the forum administrator.
This Co-Op has an expected close date of June 5th 2009.  Please note that this Co-Op may close earlier than this date.

The three choices to order are :

Kit #1 Lynx Express Receiver
Kit #2 Transmitter
Kit #3 Stand Alone Receiver
Kit #4 RS485 DIP socket connector (This module will plug into the RS485 socket that will allow the LE receiver to be used with the other Lynx controllers)
Basically you can add wireless to the Original Lynx, SSR4, FreeStyle, MR16.

*******NOTE********

You only need Kit #4 if you wish to use a Kit #1 with a controller that is not a Lynx Express

These are just parts kits no PCB's you can get PCB's from RJ's Co-Op.

Full Payment is expected when the coop is closed no orders can be made until all members have paid. All members will receive PM’s when the coop closes with details of payments due.

Please get your paypal payments in as soon as you get the Co-Op invoice PM as no orders can be placed until all payments have been received. I will not hold up co-ops for people who have not payed after about a week.
This means it is your responsibility to make sure you are marked paid within a few days of the coop closing. Otherwise you will be removed from the list and the orders will be put in.

By joining this Co-Op you also agree that the Co-Op manager, DLA (as a board to also include all administrators, moderators, and members) shall not be held for any liability.  You are joining this Co-Op at your own risk.

As with any Co-Op this Co-Op is subject to the forum rules.  These rules can be reviewed using the following link.

Prices - Uisng a 100 parts kit level.  I only used the 100 level as a starting point. Since most of the parts are the same between all three kits you can expect the prices
to go down and not up provided we hit the 100 qty level.

The prices will be in this range :

Kit #1 Lynx Express Receiver

100      $18.68

Kit #2 Wireless Transmitter

Qty             Price each parts kit

100      $46.37

Kit #3 Standalone Receiver

Qty      Price each parts kit

100      $34.00

Kit #4 RS485 Dip adapter

Qty      Price each adapter

100      $0.50

  
Shipping will be billed separately from the parts.
Shipping will be calculated after your parts are sorted and ready to go.  
Since this will be parts only we should be able to get them into a small flat rate or even padded envelope depending on the number of part kits you order.
Please note that your parts will not ship until you have sent in your shipping payment.

Please post only requests for orders with the number of each type Kit #1, Kit #2, Kit #3, or Kit #4 in this thread. If you have questions post it in another thread please.

Make sure to show what unit and quantity in your post. Kit #1, Kit #2, Kit #3, or Kit #4.

Please note that the BOM will not be added to this post until the Beta has been completed.

Kit #4 is not needed for an LE to go wireless.  Kit #4 is only for the controllers that do not have a wireless connection built into it such as the SSR4, FreeStyle, MR16, The Original Lynx (DC Dimmer).

You only need Kit #4 if you wish to use Kit #1 with a controller that is NOT a Lynx Express.

A pricing error was caught on the standalone receiver.  I duplicated the price for the LERX when I made up the opening post.
The correct cost for the Standalone receiver has been added to the post.

You might not.
First the Range on the Standalone will be farther than the EX/RX. Also other Equipment like LOR, ETC. you should use the standalone.

Also hacking a LE/RX does not give for a clean install so you might want a cleaner install.

You also can not daisy chain any other piece of equipmwnt off of this setup so you might want to use one standalone and run a whole chain of SSR4's with DMX like me for another.

I was re-reading the coop and I'm confused.  Since this a "parts only" coop where do we get the little pcb needed for the LE wireless option.  I know the pcb are probably not finalized yet, but if the boards are not included in the coop, will there be a separate coop for them?

Hello All

I have updated the Co-OP numbers with all the requested changes.
Please look and verify your numbers.  Also if you will be running the transmitter or standalone receiver on 220V you will need to supply an AC Wall Transformer.  I will post the specs of what the output needs to be after RJ confirms my numbers.

To help me with those kits that I need to remove the cost of the AC wall transformer from please post if you have a transmitter or a standalone receiver that you will be running on 220V.

I have started to crunch the numbers.  And I wanted to bring one item to attention now so it does not come as a shock later.  The Kit #4 (RS485 pin header) price has gone up.  Small changes are normal but I wanted to post about this one since it was unusual.  The original supplier for this 4 pin header has gone out of stock and does not know when/if they will get anymore.

I have found another source but the cost will be .78 each instead of the originally posted .50

All Non-ESD items have been sorted.  All of the wireless transceiver modules have also been packed into special ESD shipping boxes.
It has been a long weekend sorting.  All that is left is to program 650 pics and get the ESD bags sorted and sealed.

Hello All

Well we are getting close enough to send out notices for shipping payment.
90% of this Co-Op will ship to members using the Medium Flat Rate Box.  The AC/Adapters and the ESD packs are a bit to bulky for the small flat rate box.  Due to the cost of this Co-Op I am currently planning on adding insurance to the shipments.

It is not that I think there will be a problem but to be able to provide a level of protection.
Insurance is priced by the USPS on the value of the contents of the box.

Hello Again

Packing continues I hope to have the programming of the pics done today.
As you know from the other posts that all the ESD items will be packed into one or two bags.  This will be the same as it was done for the NON-ESD items.  This does pose one unique problem.  The Transmitter and the Receiver use the same pic.  The only difference is the firmware that is used.  Since from the outside the pic looks the same no matter what firmware they have been loaded with, it will make it hard to tell when you take them out of the parts bag(s) which is loaded with what.  At first I was thinking of painting the end of the Transmitter pics but then I thought no I have a better ideal.

1.  Use the force to tell which is which.  Simply pass your hand over the Pics and let the force guide you.
2.  Assemble a transmitter or a receiver and swap pics until you find one that works.
3.  If you have a pic programmer re-program the pics when you take them out of the bag.

I believe that using one of the three methods above methods will yield successful results.

Bill a small suggestion on the prorammed pics...     put a piece of white tape (any kind of tape will do) on the top of the pic programmed with the transmitter code.  Reason...   A:   transmitters are in the minority of the kits...    B:    see A:

Couldn't you just cut a few pins off of one or the other and let us know which ones you removed them from. I can't imagine we need them all if they're just used for lining up the IC into the socket.

As some of you figured out I was just pulling everyone's leg about not marking them.
I have already marked all the ends of the Transmitter pics using white out.
It takes a good bit of force to remove it so it should ship well.  Since it can be removed after you have them if you wish to remove the white square you can.

Since the Receiver code is the same for the Standalone or the LE receiver no mark is needed.

Below is a pic showing the two pics with one being marked.

Hello All

******Important Announcement***************

I made a mistake.  I thought that I had all the AC Wall adapters but as it turns out I did not.
I only had 89 of them.  This is my fault I missed it on my order sheets that the remainder of these units had a back order.
The problem is that the renaming of these units has a back order date until the end of October.  After seeing this I researched a sub part and asked RJ to verify that it would be OK to use.
Mouser has plenty of the sub in stock and I will be able to order the renaming units this Monday.

I packed out what I could until I ran out of Transformers.  The renaming are ready to go as soon as the renaming Transformers come in.  Currently it looks like the renaming kits will ship out next weekend or earlier based on when the remaning units come in.  I am sorry for the mix up and the delay.

If you have not already please send in your shipping payment and I will pack them out and ship as soon as I have the renaming units.

Yes all 1st shipped kits will need to have the Pic's re-programmed.

I have updated the links in the Wiki to point to the updated version 7 firmware.  This Firmware can be used with all Pic's no matter what date or lot number is on them.
At this time it is only the pic's that contain a number "9" in the lot or date code that need to be updated with version 7 in order to run correctly.  
This currently affects all pic's that were part of this parts Co-Op.

I have already re-programmed the pic's that were in the second set of shipments.  All pic's that went out with the first set of shipments will need to be re-programmed.
I will update the member list later today with what packages went out first.

Hello All

As you know most of the kits have now shipped.  I have updated the list to show the shipping status and what kits went out with the new wireless firmware that fixes the pic bug.  If your shipping column says "Y R7" this means that your kits have shipped and the pic's were loaded with version 7 firmware.  If your shipping column says just "Y" then this means your kits have shipped but your pic's were loaded with the older firmware and your pic's will need to be updated in order to work with the wireless gear.

If your column says nothing under shipping then I still need your shipping payment or the transaction ID so I can track down the shipping payment.
