Title: ANSI controls for color?
Post by: pokey on March 18, 2015,

Folks,

A buddy of mine, who dabbles in Premise Security solutions, wants to play around with RGB strips.  He wants his workbench security controller to spit out an ANSI signal (ok, warning, danger (green, yellow, red)) to a controller which will change the strips colors.

Any idea if there is an RGB controller that can ingest ANSI signals?

Greetings,,,

Sounds like a job for a microcontroller to pick up the ANSI and convert it to a format for a known controller, or to directly output the RGB.  Arduino, pic, etc.  Or an old laptop/tablet running a program to pick up the info and process it to go to a controller.  Nice DIY project.

Depends on how the security controller sends out the ANSI signalling..
See if you can get more details on this...
This could be pretty easy with a Arduino or even cheaper micro controller...
