Title: i have arrived! lol
Post by: duane.mosley on December 29, 2015,
so tonight i was taking out the garbage and a spectator told me thanks for the show and nice job. i replied with a your welcome and a thank you for the compliment. as i was telling the gentlemen in the car thanks, he asked how long it took me to program the show on the computer. i chuckled as i replied and told him i had around 1000 hours roughly in my 30 minute show. within a minute or so of talking with the man and his wife, he asked how well i knew the area and i told him where i grew up. he says no kidding, that's where we are located. as he is telling me about his light display that is "up on the hill" in the city i grew up in, i realized right then and there who he was.  Mr. Peluso i asked? the man and his wife, that planned an hour of their time to drive 15 minutes out of their way to come see my show, just happened to be one of two very large displays that inspired me when i was a kid to love christmas lights! he said he has been doing his light display for 38 years. i pointed to a blowmold santa in my display that my grandmother bought for me when i was 5, i'm 42 which makes my santa 37 years old this season. i was able to tell Mr. Peluso that his display inspired me to convince my grandmother to buy that santa the very next season after seeing his show for the first time. it was really neat to be able to tell him how his display inspired me and got me started. so after his display being on the top of my list of displays to see for over 35 years, he says that he will be back every year to see what i do. needless to say it was a good night at my house! HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Great story Duane. Isn't it funny how these things happen and usually you never see them coming. :-) Instantly makes it all worth it though.

That is awesome.  Similarly I was inspired by a local who I still have never met (but stopped doing lights quite a long time back).
