Title: FM transmitters?
Post by: JimS on June 04, 2017,
Looking for a good, but not over the top cost wise, FM transmitter that can use an external antenna.  Hoping to find something for around $60.  Was familiar with Ramsey and see good reviews but found they got out of the kit business.  :(  Canakits has a couple but they don't have much on real specifications which seems strange to me.  Kind of hard to even tell the difference between their models.  Didn't find much in the way of reviews either.  Then there are some Asia imports but the notes I found on those was pretty old.  What are the current choices and where can I find reviews or a bit more info on the various options?

you might consider this...
i purchased one like this a couple years ago and it has worked well -- not much difference than another transmitter I have (an EDM).

Good recommendation from Steve.  I bought to keep for a backup to my older Ramsey and now use it as my primary unit.

I bought the 1/0.5 watt version and using the telescoping antenna that came with it I get 750- 1000 feet.  If using a higher gain antenna you would need a choke to reduce range. Mine has been used for seven years so far without problems from mid October thru New Years Day each year.

I have been using this for the last few years

For some time had my command center for the show in my basement and ran a extender for the antenna up to the 1st floor of the house - seem to get a fare amount of range with this unit (almost 2 city size blocks)
