Title: Wireless test and live for a party!
Post by: tpctech on August 30, 2009,
My oldest daughter 8th birthday party was today.  Her theme was butterfly's So I went to the shop and got 1 small 4ch DMX dimmer, 4 ETC Source 4's and 4 butterfly Gobo's to project on the ceiling.  Our house has half walls between the kitchen, dinning room and Great room  so I have a great place to put the lights.  I programmed up a short sequence in LOR and connected the iDMX to the wireless transmitter.  and connected the wireless receiver to the Leviton dimmer pack.  The wireless worked great!!

So........

1.    RJ's wireless DMX link rocks!
2.    RJ's wireless DMX works great with a LOR iDMX

See attached pictures!

PS The light truss and par cans is a permanent fixture in the great room.  I have a very understanding wife :)  She is a video techie!

Greetings,,,

Now, just a few small motors and cams on the sides of the lights to make the butters fly...

Check out the "right arm" from Apollo  http://www.internetapollo.com/Products/View/2852.aspx

I little pricey but pretty.  I have seen them a local theatre.  DMX controlled pan and tilt.

Some small older used moving mirror would work great in the dark and more affordable!!

Or the Rosco i-cue - it's a  moving mirror that mounts to the front of a leko.

Hey, tcptech, nice setup!  You must have a very tolerant wife for her to let you have that in your living room!!  ;D

I just took a look at your second post in the 3rd picture.  Just wondering what your pinout configuration is for the DMX to cat5 cable?  I've been looking around and so far what I understand is that DMX pin 2 + 3 go to cat5 slots 2 + 1 (respectively)??  Not sure about the other pins though or even if they get connected.  Thanks!
