Title: Is the wireless device protocol sensitive?
Post by: rokkett on January 15, 2010,
Are these wireless devices sensitive to the protocol being transmitted?  I understand that the baud rate is fixed, but if I don't send DMX, will it still transmit the serial stream to the receiver?

On a lighter note,, with 512 LE ordered in the current coop, will RJ need to create a second universe to process the coop if more are added? :)

Yes, the wireless is sensitive to the protocol being transmitted.  From what I have read so far, it appears that the Receiver always outputs DMX, even if it isn't receiving anything which indicates that they are dedicated to DMX and that if anything else is sent to them, they will either corrupt or ignore a non DMX stream.

I was thinking it would just be a serial repeater, but the comments about the version 5 link light made me wonder and now the DMX stream only has been confirmed.  Thanks!

Yes they are DMX only devices.
