Greetings Fellow DLA Members,
This is a Coop for the Lynx USB DMX Dongle Version 1 & Version 2 Cases.
Please read this post completely before participating in this Coop.

This is a CASE ONLY coop for the Lynx USB DMX Dongle v1.0 and v2.0 cases. No other parts or PCBs are included in this coop. These are the correct cases as specified in the BOMs with CNC machined openings for the USB connector and the RJ-45 connector on both the v1.0 and v2.0 cases. The v2.0 cases will have the holes for the two status LEDs on the v2.0 PCB. The cases will also include the screws to attach the Dongle PCB inside the case.
By participating in this Coop you agree that the Coop manager and DLA (as a board and to also include all administrators, moderators, and members) shall not be held responsible for any liability. You are joining this Coop at your own risk.

This Coop will close at 8:00 P.M. PDT Wednesday, September 15, 2010.
Once the Coop is closed I will send each member a PM confirming the details of their order and the payment amount that is due. Full payment is expected when the coop is closed since the order cannot be placed until all members have paid. Please submit your PayPal payments as soon as you get the Coop invoice PM. Please insure your PayPal address info is up to date.
According to the vendor, the current lead time for the cases is 4 weeks from the time the order is placed. If all payments come in promptly, I would hope to place the order no later than the 20th of September. This would, in theory, get the cases out to the members towards the end of October.
Shipping will be by US Postal Service Flat Rate boxes. Flat Rate box size and cost will be determined by the number of cases ordered and will be sent out on a separate shipping invoice PM.
Here are the pricing breakdown details based on the initial quotes from the vendor. Pricing is in US Dollars and includes PayPal and Coop fees.
Kit 1 – Lynx USB DMX Dongle Version 1 Case - UPDATED 9-13-10 - Received quote for QTY 25 from vendor.
Per Case at Qty 10 - $11.25
Per Case at Qty 25 – $7.00
Per Case at Qty 50 - $6.00
Per Case at Qty 100 - $5.15
Kit 2 –Lynx USB DMX Dongle Version 2 Case
Per Case at Qty 25 - $9.75
Per Case at Qty 50 - $7.00
Per Case at Qty 100 - $5.75
As always higher numbers reduce pricing and lower numbers increase pricing. You can update or change your order during the ordering portion of the Coop. Please make sure that number of cases listed for you in the 2nd post in this Coop thread is the number you want to order.

I contacted Polycase this morning to get a price break at Qty 25 for the Version 1 case which I had not been given on my original request. They said they can certainly do that and will be getting that out to me. I will update the first post when I get the information.

Question? is there much difference in the case besides the LEDS from version 1 to 2? i am just thinking since mine does not go outside i could just get a version 2 if the mounting holes are the same? does not seem to be much interest in the version 1 case?

According to RJ, there is a slight change in the spacing and location of the USB and Cat5 connectors on the v2 pcb. Plus, as you noted, the two holes for the LEDs. I have asked the vendor for an update to get a price for a quantity of 25 for the Version 1 case which should drop the price down to around the same as the 25 qty break for the version 2 if not a little less.
My personal opinion is that the proper case makes the project look awesome. You could try to make a v1 pcb fit a v2 case and vice versa but if you can hold out a bit for the pricing update on the v1 at 25 units you may find the cost is reasonable. I agree that the interest level on the v1 case is low but I offered it as I know there are still a few v1 pcbs out there waiting to be built.
In the end it's your call but that's why I set this coop up to offer both. If you can hold off on a decision I should have the updated pricing on Monday.

This coop is winding down. Just over 26 hours to go.
We've passed the 100 unit mark on the Version 2 cases.
The vendor sent me updated pricing to give us a break at an order quantity of 25 on the Version 1 cases.
If you need, might need, or know of anyone that might need a Version 1 case, this is a great time to get one.
I can't say for certain, but based on the response in this coop, the odds of putting together another order big enough to get decent pricing on the customized Version 1 cases are slim.
Version 2 is now the current "standard" as it were.
Please take a moment to double check the 2nd post to ensure I have your order listed correctly. Once the coop closes I'll get the final pricing together and send the Payment PM's out by the end of the week.

Received an e-mail from the vendor with version 2 case drawing to verify the customization request. Confirmed that the drawing matched my request. Vendor stated they will begin set-up and confirm that the sample v2 dongle I sent fits the v2 case. Still anticipate a 10/21 date for shipping from the vendor.

Cases are not finished so expected ship date of 10-21-10 has slid. I will follow up on Monday to see when they expect to finish them and get them headed my way. I'll update when I have more information.

Well, I'm not in much of a hurry since parts are so hard to come by for the V2 dongle all I have is two pcbs. I still have my V1 dongle and it is working just fine.

I Spoke to Polycase this morning and the Dongle cases did ship on 10/21.
The tracking information didn't make it to my e-mail. (Hmmmmm)
The good news is they should arrive here on Thursday 10/28.
I will get the shipping PMs out this week.

UPDATE:
Received the sample v2 Dongle back from vendor in a seperate package so just now got a chance to mount it and check the fit.
Polycase did a great job. (I didn't get the the green LED mounted as good as I did the red one on the sample so it's not as neat as I know you all will do :) so any irregularities you see in the photos are mine not the vendors. ;D)
I have a load of boxes ready to go the PO this afternoon and will get the rest out as quick as I can when shipping payments come in.
