Hello,

This Co-op will be for the Lynx Aeon clock.

By joining this Co-op you also agree that the Co-op manager, DLA (as a board to also include all administrators, moderators, and members) shall not be held for any liability. You are joining this Co-op at your own risk.

As with any Co-op this Co-op is subject to the forum rules. These rules can be reviewed using the following link.

This Co-op will close on 8:00 P.M. EDT Sunday, September 12, 2010 or sooner if needed. Once the Co-op is closed, each member will receive a PM with the details of their order including payment amount that is due. Full payment is expected as soon as the co-op closes. Orders cannot be made until all members have paid. Please get your Paypal payments in as soon as you get your Co-op invoice PM. Please insure your Paypal address information is current. Shipping will be by US Postal Service flat rate boxes, shipping is not included in the initial Co-op, and will be determined as soon as individual’s orders are known and boxes size for each order is determined. Separate PM’s for shipping charges will be sent once orders are sorted and ready to be shipped.

There are two options. Kit 1 will include the PCB, all components, and the wall wart power supply. Kit 2 will only include the PCB.

Here are the pricing details at initial ordering amounts. Pricing includes Paypal 3% and Coop 3% fees. As always higher numbers reduce pricing and lower numbers increase pricing. Change your order as you wish during the ordering portion of the Coop, but please make sure I can tell which kits you are changing and desired numbers. Please check the order list that follows to make sure I don't miss your order or any changes as the Coop continues and at the end of ordering.

Kit 1 - Aeon kit - includes all electronic parts, wall wart, AND PCB
Per Kit at quantity 50 - $49.20

Kit 2 - Aeon PCB ONLY
Per kit at quantity 50 - $14.38

Mouser sent me 100uF caps that have the leads clipped and formed; I will try to get them to exchange them with ones with full-length leads; worst comes to worst, these are usable after straightening out one lead. Next will be the fun task of counting LEDs...

Post by: inzeos on October 09, 2010,: Stackable ice cube trays in an esd safe work environment with a sesnsitive scale usually speeds up sorting. LEGO factory precisly weighs all pieces and master kits in order to insure the right items are plucked and packed.

Post by: n1ist on October 10, 2010,: Unfortunately, my scale isn't sensitive enough for the discretes (I tried it with the LEDs) and my ice cube tray is full of ice cubes. I did use a bunch of plastic ESD-safe drawers from a parts cabinet to help out.

PICs are all programmed, and I am about a third of the way with sorting DIPS. I still haven't heard from JJ that he has shipped the boards to me; I'm guessing they are still on the way from China. I know the holiday there did delay my other boards by a few days.

I seem to have one more left over than I should have, and some extra PCBs (but I know RJ got some extras of them to hit the next price break). Missing 1 4.7K resistor and 1 .01uf cap.

Looked and it appears the BOM is wrong. Says the Aeon only needs 3 4.7ks when it needs 4 and 8 .01uf caps when it needs 9.

The 4.7 I had some extra lying around and hoping Radio shack has the .01uf caps.

As for the 4k7. it looks like the posted BOM is in error. There are 4 on the board (pullup on ~MCLR, pullups for the pushbuttons, and the pullup for the clk out on the RTC). I guess we will have to wait for RJ on this. If you don't have an extra 4k7 resistor lying around, you can likely use anything from around 2K to 10k for the button pullups (the two to the left of the PIC)

Hmm Mike I read the manual and the pics according to the manual, are wrong because it was a beta PCB therefore I went by the text. The manual says, "Now install the 8 .1uf capacitors in the locations marked for them. these are almost just wires but the have a small bump in the middle. Solder them in the same. "

Where does that say dont install the on at the top? It doesnt and that was the problem. So I did take a little offense to telling me to look at the manual, when I did.

I personally solder from top to bottom thinnest parts to bigger parts as it makes it easier to hold the stuff in place when I flip the board over.

It would be nice for the manual to be updated and reflect the information at the top is not need and is for something RJ has not put in yet.

Back to the positive side, got the first one up and running and it is running like a champ. Thanks for the Coop and RJ thanks for the great clock. It rocks.

The note about the picture being wrong only mentioned the 33-ohm resistor being an addition. Electrically, it makes sense to leave that one out until RJ designs whatever plugs in to that header. I have updated the manual to make it clear that no capacitor is needed there.

Glad you got it running,

The reason for the manual being of the beta pcb and the missing resistor is all the same. I was asked to get the clock out before christmas because a lot of users wanted them for presents.

Since time was so tight before I left their was no time for a regular beta where the beta tester normally catch the bom mistakes and can help update the manual with the final pcbs ect.

The Pcb's that came in and were sent out while I'm on the other side of the world is the first of the final pcbs so the only pcb ever made up til then was my prototype.

Not making excusses just wanted you to understand that the rush to make it happen for everyone can make it hard. We were originally going to wait till I got back to do the Aeon coop. None of this is mike's issues, it was issues I created and he has so kindly delt with for me to make this happen this year for everyone.

Post by: batdive on October 29, 2010,: RJ the clock is great no worries. Have one built after a quick flash of the PIC and it is working great. One happy "accident" as the guy that use to teach painting said, was having the bad PIC flash originally is an easy way to test all the LEDs just after install. Was nice to see them all light up and then flash the PIC and it was clock time.

Cant wait to make the 2nd clock now.

It was great seeing all of the leds light up. Flashed the pic, set the time and hung it up in the garage.
Now to build the other 2 and figure out who gets them for Christmas.

<la.. Thats funny, I still say its a daughterboard for sounds on the hour (hence the 8 pin and two open holes on either side to secure it to the Aeon, but we will wait and see since RJ loves to keep us drooling.

On a side note, we need a drooling emote since most of us tend to do that when reading some threads..

Post by: RJ on December 30, 2010,: The coops that happen this year will directly relate to how many people step up to manage the coops as well as how many of those meet the requirements for being a coop manager such as having been an active part of DLA for a year, etc. Being accepted as a coop manager is up to the Administrators as we have to fell comfortable that the coops will be successful for those that join them.

Without coop managers to do them we will not have coops. I will be busy with a large Express coop and Smart String coop. Along with a few other things so I will not be able to run lots of coops myself this year. Dad and I will not be able to run as many Express coops this year either so expect less of them and plan accordingly as the year goes.

Basically, the coop managers will run them the same but have to keep very detailed records for the new reporting requirements and then follow those reporting requirements come tax time.

I would have assumed coop managers have kept their records detailed for their own peace of mind, the only difference now is having to use the records for reporting to the gov.
