Got suckered into D-light hardware this year, just due to time constraints and finally deciding to do the blinky thing. Next year, definitely gonna go more DIY...but was wondering if the Lynx Wireless DMX receiver would work with the D-Light hardware? I'm assuming it would due to just using cat5 cable connection, but wanted to make sure.

What software are you using? I think this is the key. You could use both in the same display with the correct setup but the D-Light gear does not talk DMX yet.

The Lynx Wireless transmits DMX data and nothing else.
So the real question is does D-light controllers understand / work with DMX?
I never used D-light hardware so I have no idea.
Of course you can run LSP or Xlights which will send out the correct information to both d-light and dmx but they will be on separate networks.

I'm using Vixen to control my lights. So, if I use the Lynx Dongle...and then use a Lynx SSR and daisy chain it to my D-light hardware, will it work?

You have to have the open source version of the d-Light controllers and create your own DMX firmware in order for their controllers to work in a DMX universe. The d-Light USB adapter is their DMX dongle, so you are set if you have one of them.
To answer your question, no the Lynx Wireless equipment will not work on their controllers natively.

I have eight AC-8s and three AC-16s. I am planning on writting replacement firmware for both, but it will not be until next year... It might even be a replacement daughter board that plugs into the original PIC socket...

So let me see if I am thinking straight!
I have Light Show Pro which can talk multiple protocols out of different ports.
I have an investment in D-light controllers.
I want to look into DMX controlled RGB Pixels and strings.
In order to look at doing wireless I have some options.
1.) Convert my d-light controllers to DMX and use Lynx wireless for my whole display.
2.) Leave my d-light controllers alone and investigate the non-dmx wireless boards at doityourselfchristms.
Use Lynx Wireless to do my DMX controllers out of a different port on the Light Show Pro Computer.
I realize that the wireless spectrum could get crowded if I run 2 separate wireless environments, but could it be done?
I am using an ATOM475 based computer to run show. Would it be beneficial to get a smart DMX dongle?
Mike.

Keep me up to date on your progress. I'd offer to help, but I have no clue!!

I decided to make it easy on myself and sold off all my D-Light stuff and will be using Lynx equipment only...
Sorry,
