OK, let's try this one more time. xLights 2011e is now available for download from SourceForge:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/xlights/ (http://sourceforge.net/projects/xlights/)
Bug fixes since 2011d:
1) Vixen files that have channels defined in the sequence (i.e. have a non-empty <channels> section in the xml) as well as a link to a profile, will now always use the profile. This is consistent with the way Vixen processes this situation. This was fixed in both xConverter and xScheduler.
2) LOR sequences (LMS files) exported from LSP are now processed correctly by xConverter. This includes fixes to inappropriately setting the channels to full on, and also determining the correct length of the sequence.
Merry Christmas,
Matt

Matt
Thanks for xlights, I have been using it to run my show with no problems at all. I have 5 LOR controllers, 2 Express, & 1 Rainbow Brain all running on one Lynx dongle & Lynx wireless.
Again Thanks.

Thanks for doing this.

Adding to the list of THANKS!!!!!!

2011e working for me... I am only using Vixen sequences...

Hi Matt,
I just tried "e" and it works GREAT!!!!
I didn't change the vixen files and now I get all of my channels.
Awesome job and the show started right away. Previously using vixen seqs it would take 15mins before it would play.
I am SO HAPPY, you are Awesome

Will put it to the test tonight. the "d" version fixed my issues though esp. after converting 'em.
Thanks so much!

I'm having a bit of a problem outputting a converted file. It was exported from LSP to LOR. Then I ran a script to define my networks correctly - saved instances 0-2400 are network 0, saved instances 2400 - 4166 are network 1.
I have 2 pixelnet dongles defined. There is something going on with both my DMX output from pixelnet dongle 1 and for some of the channels in dongle 2. In particular, approximately 1/2 of my LOR units work with this configuration, but half don't work at all. It's always the same ones. I can play the sequence perfectly from LSP scheduler or sequencer without issue.
The xlights test can control all lor units / channels. It is JUST a problem isolated to these files...

Having problems. Smartstrings don't output colors correctly sometimes and if you try to delete a playlist the program crashes. The lms still are playing correctly. This is from LSP to LOR to new xlights format.

So let me just make sure I understand your setup. I have 2 pixelnet dongles, each connected to a smartstring hub? You have LOR controllers that are running in DMX mode off of one or both of those smartstring hubs? And you are playing the LMS files from xScheduler and not all LOR controllers are responding?
What are the unit ids of the LOR controllers that are not responding?

I've tried duplicating the "crash when deleting a playlist", but have been unsuccessful - works without issue for me. Could you see if it works under some conditions and not others?
Does the Krypton sequence you sent me exhibit the "smartstrings don't output colors correctly" issue? If so, which channels? at what point in the sequence?
Thanks,
Matt

Your assumptions on this are correct. Lor running in dmx off one smart string hub. I'll get working and non working controller numbers tomorrow for you. Thanks!!
-
Ran the show last night for 5 hours without a hitch.... Haven't noticed anything else while navigating through it....
-
Ok - here's what I've got as of this morning. I get the same results for lms and xseq files.
Unit numbers that work:
1
0B
9
7
Unit numbers that do not work:
8
4
5
6
0A
Not sure:
0C (lights are on bethlehem star and tiny snowflakes - can't see anything in the daylight)
I'm attaching an empty channel template file as well as a processed template file where network IDs are updated based on the saved indexes from the LSP to LOR export.
-
What is the configuration of the HUBs? I.e. which DMX output are you using?
Frank
-
I'm using the default config, so I believe that would be channels 1-512 on the first hub.

Is it possible to post a copy of part (or the entire file) of the LMS exported file from LSP that is having the problem? I also had a problem with an exported LMS file from LSP that was the result of a problem in LSP that is now being fixed. Or maybe you can do a screencast-o-matic.com video of the problem?

Here is the lms as exported from LOR, the processed lms file after using frank's script to assign network values to the channels, and the converted xseq file. they are large files... The other post shows the empty channel templates which may be easier to see any patterns...

Looking at just one controller, unit #8, channel "MT5 R", circuit 113, it appears that the data was exported correctly from LSP:
<channel name="MT5 R" color="255" centiseconds="113379" deviceType="LOR" unit="8" circuit="113" savedIndex="96">
<effect type="intensity" startCentisecond="93" endCentisecond="100" startIntensity="0" endIntensity="2" />
<effect type="intensity" startCentisecond="100" endCentisecond="107" startIntensity="2" endIntensity="11" />
<effect type="intensity" startCentisecond="107" endCentisecond="113" startIntensity="11" endIntensity="18" />
<effect type="intensity" startCentisecond="113" endCentisecond="120" startIntensity="18" endIntensity="20" />
<effect type="intensity" startCentisecond="120" endCentisecond="127" startIntensity="20" endIntensity="22" />
That data after conversion looks fine also. I'm assuming that Network 0 (the default network) is also properly configured as the first output in xLights?
It would REALLY help if you would make a screen cast of your settings in xLights both in the network setup and in the schedule information.
Using the xLights light tester, can you control the channels on controller 8 directly? If not, that would point to a misconfiguration in xLights witch this appears it maybe.
-
I'll try to take a screen shot of xlights, however, it's essentially:
Com 7, pixelnet, 4096 channels
Com 8, pixelnet, 4096 channels
I can control ALL lights directly from within xlights.
-
How many channels are on controller 8?
circuit 113 is probably the issue here... Do you want DMX channel 113? If so change the unit to unit 1...
-
OK looked at your files and I am pretty sure that is the issue here. xLights is calculating the channel number as:
chindex=(unit-1)*16+circuit-1;
So as you have it unit 2 channel 17 will actually be DMX channel 32...
If you just convert all the unit #s to unit 1 you should be OK.

Hmm - You know, I initially had these setup as LOR in LSP. I then set them as DMX controllers (where unit isn't used). I'm wondering if LSP is exporting the original unit number even though it's now a DMX controller? Essentially I'll have to edit every one of my exported lms files, huh? What a pain...
I bet I can use the set intensity replacement script I made earlier to make these changes... Shouldn't be too horrific... hopefully... :)
-
I can probably make that change for you. Pretty simple to have it set unit=1 the same way it sets the network.
Just add:
chan.set('unit','1')
after the line:
chan.set('network',str(net['net']))

Thank you! Got it to work on a dedicated computer.

Hi Matt,
Just wanted to let you know that for me your hard work has pay off.
The past two nights my show has been running with no problems on the computer side of things.
Again many thanks for all of your hard work, of course I am using Vixen 2.1x files and profile
I love the new xlights file format, it just WORKS.
Cheers

I converted all my Vixen sequences to Xlights and no issues thus far, it loads them right away.
In fact I had to insert blank sections of time in my vixen sequences the keep the sign text in sync as the sign text is running on LSP's scheduler and it does not load the LSP sequences as well as Xlights loads it's sequences.
Thanks for doing this.

I wanted to confirm that setting the unit ID to 1 did indeed fix the problems. I do have 2 songs that pause on me - I've posted about that in another forum topic. Other than that, xlights is amazing!!! I am finally running my show with full pixel control instead of just string control! Very, very happy!

I had created multiple playlists some with more songs, some with les, some using lms files, some using xlights format. Do the songs need to be removed from the playlist before it can delete a playlist? No it is a different sequence and only was messing up in the xlights format. I went back to using the lms format since my powerful laptop doesn't have a huge delay. I can try it again to test it tonight before the rain hits probably. I also am having a problem with a sign that is supposed to be on during each song. LSP has an issue when something is on before the first time interval so I always wait until after that interval and it works correctly in LSP, but in xlights it works in only 1/2 my songs and never turns on in the other half. Any ideas? I am sure it is the LSP program causing the issue somehow. Sorry I just saw your post.

1) playlists do not have to be empty when you delete them
2) If you will send me a copy of a sequence where the sign does not turn on and let me know which channel, I would be happy to take a look at it.
Matt
