Post by: jammiejammie on January 24, 2012,
Hello,

I would like to build an wireless dmx system with the electronics inside my equipment.
I was wondering if i could use the MRF24J40MC in stead of the MRF24J40MB ?
Don't realy know how function compatible they are.

thanks fot the help!

Looking at the specs they are the same just one has a patch antenna and the other has the connector. But from most peoples use of the current setup you would not need an external antenna unless you are trying to go though a thick concrete wall or have your computer over 200 feet from your show. Also with using an outside antenna you may interfere with someone else equipment if some one in your neighborhood also has a Lynx wireless system.

one rule of radio use only use the power you need to get the job done, more is not better.

I also looked at this transceiver chip (for a different purpose)..   One thing that I did not see in the Microchip data was whether there is a limit to the distance between chip and antenna.   I would guess that a short distance would be better.   Only one way to find out and that would be through assemble and test.
