Title: xLights, EtherDongle and 32K channels?
Post by: Steve Gase on May 16, 2012,
Let's say that I use RJ's test firmware on a second EtD to get another 16K channels...

How would I define the network assignments in xLights to use all 32K PixelNet channels?

I'm unclear if PixelNet should have a last channel value of 512 or 4096.
Therefore I don't know if for 32K channels would I have...

A) E1.31 universes from 1-64 of 512 channels each?
B) E1.31 universes from 1-8 of 4096 channels each?

Thanks!

For 1 EtD xlLights is configured as 32 universes of 512 channels each.  Let's hope Matt chimes in with an answer.

I believe you just keep adding universes

Each E1.31 universe is a max of 512 channels

Ether 1 = 1 - 32 (ie: 239.255.0.1 …. 239.255.0.32)
Ether 2 = 33 - 64 (ie: 239.255.0.33 …. 239.255.0.64)

I agree with Rick.  Devices (Etherdongle) simply listen to a range of IP addresses.  When you setup xlight network config, this determines which channels to send to which IP address.
