Title: cat 5 wire to aether question
Post by: salongaopm on October 01, 2012,
i need some clarification:
from wiki:

"hook up your two wires from the pigtails (orange & orange and white)"

i can see from the pigtail one orange and one white with orange. are these the ones i need to hook up to the board marked orange and white/orange? there are four slots/hole in the board...does it mean that two will be empty/open?
what do i do with the other six wires from pigtail?

thanks!

The 4 holes are like a stress relief when pulling on the wires after built. When assembling, the wires should be inserted from the bottom up then gotten into the solder side, solder from the bottom, I'll get a picture in a couple minutes.

you can hookup 2 pigtails to the aether II.

pigtail 1   orange wire gets soldered to the orange, white/orange gets soldered to the white/orange
pigtail 2   orange wire gets soldered to the orange, white/orange gets soldered to the white/orange

once it's all hooked up, you can plug in your dmx signal to either one, then connect another dmx device to the other pigtail, it's to create a passthrough for the dmx signal.

If they didn't to it that way, you'd need a dmx splitter to run more than one aether II.

so, I can just cut off the other six wires from the pigtails? It is a little hard getting all the wires to pass thru hole of the case.

Yes you can clip the 6 other wires on each of the pigtails.  That's what I've done.
