most negative feedback is like a blanket when the actual objection is the size of a dime. If you have the opportunity to ask questions, you can usually pinpoint the issue, then decide if it is something that needs to fixed.

I keep my songs/seqs to more traditional Christmas selections.  Personally, the gangnam style songs drive me nuts!  Also, all my music is thru the FM so there is no sound to annoy neighbors (unless they want to listen to it).  I did have an issue last year where my Tune To sign (which was made up of clear leds) was placed in an bad spot which shone very brightly into my neighbors front window.  Fortunately, the subject came up in a casual conversation with him and I was made aware of the problem so I was able to move the sign to a better position and also cut the intensity down to about 30%.  This made everyone happy!   Now I make it a point to check with my neighbors to see if they have any suggestions or objections.

Opinions are like a-holes; everybody has one. I did a skeleton dancing to Gangnam for Halloween and everyone loved it. I have also done a song called Fascination (Human League) the past three years, but had a guy yell at me out his car window this year "Hey thats not a Christmas song!". He didn't stop to watch the show, but obviously was a fan because he already had his radio tuned to my frequency....how else would he have known what song was playing. We all have our own reasons for song choices. If he knew that my 14yr old son had autism and Fascination was one of his favorite songs, or he had seen this non-conversational boy in the yard spinning and dancing uncontrollably with laughter, he would realize that I care less about it being a traditional Christmas song. That ones for us and it fits in just fine.

Thanks all for the replies and differing opinions.  I have not gotten any other feedback from the neighbors but I really don't see them much this time of year.  I will have to try and engage them a bit when I see them.  The people I have talked to that have seen the show love gangnam style but they are a younger crowd than those that live around me.  It would have been nice if the neighbor would have provided some constructive criticism or their name so I could have a discussion with them.  But at this point with only 6 days left in the run I don't plan on changing anything.

I didn't have the time this year to sequence a few more traditional Christmas songs and will probably do so next year.  However, I really prefer songs that have a quick beats which allows you to do a lot of flashing.  Like many here I saw the wizards in winter video back in 2005 and was amazed and wanted to someday do that to my house.  Unfortunately there are not a lot of Christmas themed songs that are that quick which when sequenced would provide me the same sense of wow.  Clearly there are those with the opposite view and prefer the more traditional songs and slower paced sequencing.  To each his/her own I guess.  So for now I will probably continue to have a few non-traditional songs in the play list.

Like someone said earlier ... If they don't have the stones to put their name on the letter, let it go without discussion. Anyone can be a putz anonymously.

I put Gangham Style right in the middle of my show about a week after it started - it has been wildly popular. A carload of folks hopped out and started dancing in the street and many people come by time and time again to hear(see) it.

This is my first year sequencing and the show has been a hit.
