Ok anybody with a menards around...  menards has an all pourpose box (kinda like old fishing/tool boxes) that are made by plano.  They are not waterproof, but latch tightly.

I am going to let the members chime in on the rest of your post but this part I have to answer.

We are not 'THAT' kind of forum. They will always take it easy on you as we have rules on how we treat posters and the staff is always ready to deal with those that can't follow them. We have all been beginners also. We try to always Remember that.

What I am saying is there is no reason for anyone worring about posting at DLA since we exist to answer questions.

Welcome!

Shane, from what I see you could use them for a controller with the caveat that the handle area would be a potential for water entering the case.  My first cases for my D-Light ACx8's where shoe storage boxes which worked OK for several years and where cheap ($1 each) but I can say since I bought CG1500 cases I have never had a water problem and there are super easy to access. Bottom line use what your budget allows, just make sure to water test prior to putting the controller inside.

My big concern would be the handle. It looks like the lip overlaps enough on the front and sides where you wouldn't have to worry about it there. Another concern would be around the hinge...

If there is any hole that is not covered in some way, that could be big trouble if the wind is blowing the wrong way...

for me the box is too small ... to be honest i used a few of the 19 inch plastic tool box ..reason being is that i can put a pc power suplly in them,,, then the contoler ( ren 48  moslty )on top ,,,seal all the hole with silicone or hot glue and voila seal box .... on my case this year we had so much rain and snow i did not want to take any chance and i put a garbage bag on top of them just to make sure they were no water going inside. but nothing beat a cg1500 for the lynx express but it depend of what controler or ps you using
