ss arches
« on: June 23, 2013, »
I've seen many arches including ss arches. Has anyone used a clear tubing to slide the strings thru and then tied them to the PVC? I was thinking about doing the same with the mega tree. Has there been any issues doing this?

I put ss flex strips on clear tubing and zip tied to 1/2 conduit and it works fine.   Lights down gives a slightly less annoying brightness .    Getting thru the tube was tough

I used 1/2" white PEX tubing from Lowes.  This was the stuff that comes precut in like 10' lengths.  The stuff that comes in rolls doesn't ever seem to lose the coiled form.  The white PEX seems to distribute the light pretty evenly.  Only thing is if the LEDs get close to the edge, you see bright spots.

I was thinking more along the lines of a 3/4 clear hose, not a typical stick type. It comes in a roll. Just a thought. It will keep them out of the rain ect. It should work fine... Thought about putting them in it for the mega tree as well....

Be sure to find something to pull them thru with as pushing the lights in is a big PIA.  You might try something like this

Taybrynn's arches look good.  He also has them set up off the ground so that they can be seen better from the street.  We (PK and I) had a nice tour one afternoon and got a lot of useful information on technical stuff and good information about sequencing.  A lot of great, helpful folks on here!
