colors changing problem?
« on: July 13, 2013, »
I've been trying out the ss's and when they change colors it seems like they aren't smooth while changing. More like choppy ... Its the same with all of the strings. Is this normal? Example- when changing from green to blue, it seems to be like 4-5 color changes without being gradual. Is this normal?
Its the most wonderful time of the year.

There are a few things that have impacted "smooth" transitions in our displays.  The biggest one will be the SSC and firmware version.  We've traded out SSCs that were "acting funny" with SSCs that are the same version and the strings would then "act normal".  Sometimes it's a bad string/node, which may be the case in your example.  It's always the node before the one that looks bad.

We've had strings that we thought were bad but then with subsequent SSC firmware the string works OK.  Just a little trial and error.

All nodes do this tho. I could see if it were 1 but its all nodes on all strings. The color changes are not smooth at all.

Have you done the V3 modifications? Cut the trace, replace the resistor, latest firmware? After the mod the length between the ssc and first node should be no longer than 6 feet. Prior versions were less. V2 was about 2 feet.
