Emt elbow connections, T connections
« on: May 28, 2012, »
I am thinking of using emt as a frame for making a flag display, and for making parts of a crane display. Has anyone found or created connectors that are more economical than pull elbows?

And no, I don't have an arc welder. Wish I did, this would be a lot easier.

PVC and epoxy. Or just buy an El Cheapo welder kit like this and be done with it.

Depending on how tight you need your 90's you can always use a bender that saves on fittings. If you do need tight 90's you can weld them but you would need a MIG welder a it is not a easy task as the metal is so thin. Another option is to find 90' elbow black pipe plumbing fittings and insert the emt into the fitting and drive a screw through it.

You can use a vice to flatten the ends then drill a couple of holes in each each end to attach the 4 sides forming a rectangle.  The two holes and fasteners will keep the unit from racking.
