Lynx Express and HolidayCoro DMX controllers
« on: November 18, 2012, »

I am using some HolidayCoro DMX controllers this year along with a bunch of lynx express controllers. I have built the HolidayCoro power injector to inject 12v into my cat5 cable, which powers the controllers and LEDs. Can I run that powered line into a lynx express? Assuming its using the same color wires for DMX control (orange), are the other wires even hooked up to the express, or do they just end at the connector? I could always put the 12v controllers AFTER the expresses, but was trying to make setup easier.

it appears that the extra pins on the input only go straight through to the output of dmx out 1 only and no where else.

2 things to consider...
you don't want to push a lot of current though that might harm the traces.

RJ at any time could make a design change that would affect those traces being connected in future versions.
To rule the entire tri-state area!  What's that? Perry the Platypus!!!

I am running through the controller and then injecting the power. I kind of figure why take a chance with the controller after putting all that time, $$$ and work into it? It's just one more $5-$10 cable.
