FlexStrips and the cold
« on: November 16, 2012, »
I was wondering how well the LED flexstrip smart strings work in cold weather?  I live in eastern Canada and winters are cold and lots of snow.

Will they break when attempt to put them up or take them down?  Ay tips for the cold north?

Thanks,
Shannon

What kind of clear tubing did you use?

It was like 5/8 and I got 100' of it on amazon for around $35-40 for a roll.   I zip tie the strip in the tube the underside of 1/2 conduit and mount that on rebar to make the arches.

-10F right?  That's about -23C which is about what we get here in the winter.

So it sounds like the should be fine.

Do you have any daylight pictures?

Do you have a video of them in action?

Thanks,

Anyone have any tips for cold (and possibly wet) areas?  Living in eastern Canada we could have a lot of snow or rain by Christmas and just curious what others do to protect the equipment?

i would unroll them inside. and then take them out and put them up if the weather is close to freezing.

Thanks.  I'm more concerned about taking them down after the season when they've been out in the cold and covered in snow and frozen.
