I have ssr 4 w/ dmx
USB dongle with PIXELNET firmware

Set up goes PC ... Dongle ... Active hub ... LE ... Ssr4

Using ricks start channel utility

Cannot get start address programmed on ssr 4

Using alternate process described in manual where controller is powered, send start address signal, move jumper to program, wait 5, power controller off etc.

Am I correct to be converting signal to dmx via active hub before getting to ssr ?
Have utility set to USB dongle and PIXELNET
Is that correct?

I have already rr flashed pic and verified checksum on wiki

I know some of these 18f1220 pics have trouble with this but want to make sure my process is correct anyway

First time with dongle running PIXELNET

If you are programming the SSR, you need to reflash your Lynx dongle to DMX and connect directly from the dongle to the SSR.  After this is completed, you can return the Pixelnet and run the SSR off the SShub via the DMX port.

I can do that but was trying to avoid pulling the dongle chip and reflashing repeatedly

Was trying to use the software at bottom of table listed at

Well it does work for me.  :)
I tested all options and I had another member tested it out with a Aether

Are these new SSR4s or older ones you are changing ?

If New units can you control the 4 channels ?

The 1220 pics were always a bit touchy programming the start address. Sometimes you have to reflash them. Try at least 4 times

Thanks Rick

Can you confirm for me that I should be going through the active hub
And does it matter if there is another dmx device between hub and the ssr?

These are old ssrs that I have used and controlled 4 channels with

Previously was using dmx firmware on dongle when I programmed start address first time (last year)

Previously was using dmx firmware on dongle when I programmed start address first time (last year)

To set the start channel there is only valves on channel one and channel two of the data stream (per universe). So once the active hub creates the dmx data it will be just whatever valve you are asking for.

Example you want your SSR4 to be at channel 180
I am sending 180 on channel one and zero on every additional channel per universe, pixelnet in this case.
The active hub will convert the pixelnet data into dmx data and channel one will have a value of 180 and the rest of the 511 channels will be zero.

Example two you want your SSR4 to be at channel 340
I am sending 255 on channel one and 85 on channel two then zero on every additional channel per universe, pixelnet in this case.
The active hub will convert the pixelnet data into dmx data and channel one will have a value of 255 and channel two will have a value of 85 and the rest of the 510 channels will be zero.

Just make sure you have the jumper connect on the active hub and of course the SSR4 jumper is on program mode as per the wiki directions.

So as you can see there is nothing special about the data and the active hub and any dmx device will send the data along.

Hope that helps

Thanks for the explanation that is what I thought but having trouble with it
Probably not related to your program but more likely something I am doing or just a problem with the chip

Appreciate your help and the program

I will try again when I get back home

I was never able to program the start address for my two SSRs using Pixelnet

I reflashed my USB dongle to DMX and was able to program SSR starts that way

I really appreciate the Express even more now, so nice to change start address with the board buttons and not via software

Any other ideas??  I have 4 new SSr-DMX that just will not program their start address no matter what I try,
One day I will fly out of the fog and all of this will be seen clearly!
