Aether 1 setting start address
« on: November 26, 2012, »
i am finally going to use to Aether 1's to light new driveway markers I built but they will not take a new DMX address.  I used the procedure in the wiki but no worky.  I reloaded the PIC and still nothing.  I remember at sometime you can set the address by changing a bit in the PIC.

any thoughts?

Yes, I tried the wiki version and another I found in the forum.    At this point I just need a work around to set the address to "5"  I thought there was away to change a "word" in the PIC program to have it "boot" to a different channel.

Thoughts.......

I have been tied up but can dig up the firmware to see where you can manually edit it for you with luck tonight.

If not I have to work on one of my aethers tomorrow and might be able to do another custom hex for you.

I know you have a workaround so I suggest you don't change anything.  I had a similar issue and if I recall correctly it took me a few tries.  I also think I used slightly different steps

1.  Power on
2.  Transmit
3.  Move jumper to program, lights should flash
4.  Stop
5.  Power off
6.  Move jumper to normal

Be careful when moving the jumper while powered on.

Thanks,  I will give it a try.  I have a work-around for the Christmas show but the Aethers are going to a permanenet addition to some new driveway markers I built.
