DMX Dongle BOM Question

(1/2) > >>

wjt3:
I just received my Mouser parts order for the Dongle, and I think I may have ordered incorrect resistors. Should they be 1/8 watt or 1/4 watt? I used the BOM from 1/11/09, and it indicated 1/8 watt. Now it shows 1/4 watt resistors. Thanks for your help...Bill

RJ:
No Problem!!!

We changed all the BOMs to be 1/4 watt. It was done to make the sorting easier for the coop managers. The 1/8 watt are so small they are hard to sort. Any of the parts that where list as 1/8 watt are fine as 1/8 watt and also fine at 1/4 watt.

Will not make any difference for you. We are just adjusting stuff to make handleing the large volume of orders easier.

Now do not go the other way. anything calling for a 1/4 should not be changed lower.

Thanks for the quick response RJ. I'll use all 1/8 watt resistors in the dongle...Bill

Newbie question.  I was getting ready to order parts for the DMX Dongle and have found some discrepancies between the BOM on the WIKI and the predifined DMX Dongle project that can be clicked on in the WIKI.  Now I do not know which is correct or which to order?

The differences are as follows:

BOM :                       291-100-RC |2, 291-470-RC |2 and 581-SA105E104Z |2

predefined project : 299-100-RC |1, 299-470-RC |2 and 581-SA105E104Z |3

Which is correct????  Seems to me that the two should match and someone needs to fix either the WIKI or the predefined project.  Especially for a novice like me who barely knows a resistor from a transistor (not really, but you get the picture).

The Bom is correct.

291-100-RC |2    100ohm x2
291-470-RC |2    470ohm x2
581-SA105E104Z |2  .1uf x2

I could not find the 299-xxx part numbers at mouser.  I thought that they might be some rohs version.

Curious, where did you get  the "predefined project" listing?

Update:  the 299 part numbers are 1/8W resistors.  In this particular case, they are interchangeable with the 1/4W parts.
