Sealing up connections

I know that there has been some issues with sealing up cat 5 connections.  Back in the day when I was racing rc cars and we had mechanical speed controllers, we would seal them in a balloon to keep out dust and moisture.  That is what I did with my cat5 connections.  Poked a hole in on side of the balloon and slid it over the connection then zip tied both ends.  Seems to be working well.  I will try to take some pictures this evening if I can
