I can't complain in Northern VA.  I took the day off today because we had 70 degree weather (I still don't have my show up.  I have my mega tree, my mini trees, my star, my eaves, and my upstairs lights wrapped.  I still need to put out my spots, my strobes, and my SS matrix)  It is supposed to rain tomorrow, though.  Today was absolutely gorgeous!

Funny, that is the weather we had yesterday and I took the day off too. My show is running but just dmx, rgb not ready

+100 LOL

I'm playing my down due to technical difficulties audio bit way too much.

Even drizzle is affecting the expresses.  I start the day after thanksgiving but I don't think I've been able to run the show more than 7 days total.  Depressing.  Never thought I'd say this but come on snow!!!!! Gawd I must be sick for that statement.

Dean,

Sorry to hear that.  It can be a downer when things don't go well (I am sure we have all had those moments and I have been through a few myself this season).  Just know that when it does work, the joy it brings to everyone (including yourself) far outweighs all the frustration.

Here's keeping my fingers crossed for you!

the rain has actually been the deciding factor for placing the electronics of my "smart arches" inside the thinwall pvc, rather than lighting up on the outside.

Ive never had a problem my GFCIs tripping in the rain, and it typically rains about half the time where I live. Maybe the rain where I live is distilled, so it doesn't conduct electricity.  ;D

...Wait, even though I said that to be funny, would it be possible that some regions have acid rain, and therefore conductive stuff in the water?

Also, is this something to do with the lights being on controllers, as I've never heard of anybody having problems with a static display, either. Maybe is it more prone on incandescents vs. LED strings because of the higher power draw? Or strings with removable (led OR incandescent) bulbs vs. non-removable ones?

Perhaps some of the people running into problems with tripping GFCIs chime in on their type of lights and if they live in s "boogey man" acid rain zone?

I have a mix of incan and led myself.  Static isn't a problem though.  It's when they are on the controllers that the problems start.

Incans here. After a few days of it being dry my LE returns to normal operation I think I may beef up the waterproofing on it with some hot glue....

Speaking of rain I just had a sucessful A Ha moment and test with an SSC waterproofing idea. I wasn't looking forward to using silicone to seal the wire holes and having to pull it off later if I wanted to reprogram. It's based on the idea someone mentioned about using a balloon as a waterproof boot for ethernet connections.

I grabbed a package of those big punching bag balloons the kind with the big rubberband on them from the toy department in Wal Mart (was like $3 for 8). I cut off the rolled over part that you blow into to give it a bit more stretch at the opening. Then I was able to fold it mostly inside out and work it over the SSC enclosure ending up with one completely sealed end that has the bonus of a rubber loop to hang it from.

That is what I am doing.  First round my balloons were too small and they would tear from being stretched and exposed to uv.  I have had some issues but only when the balloon has torn.

Wish something like that would help me...  Not using SSC though.

Another night (tonight) lost to rain and tripping GFCI's. :(  This is getting old....

I've taped a lot of the unused ends on my LEDs and incandescents. But still hate the rain. Need to get all my stuff of the ground.
