You may have covered this somewhere in your hours of videos but I can't seem to recall how to clear the List that appears at the end of the NUTCRACKER: RGB Effects Builder?

I'ts easy to find the list locally but online its not as easy.

Thanks,

Can you be more specific?  What options did you select in the menu and where are you on the site?  There are many 'lists' per se in Nutcracker.

It is the list that appears after left clicking on the sequencer output option.

An example entry is:

1. [] ../effects/workspaces/59/MTREE001~BARSRED_WHT1.nc
etc.

Every time you process an effect this list grows but there doesn't seem to be a way to delete these entries onlilne.

In a local install these files are located here:
C:\wamp\www\nutcracker\effects\workspaces\59

I am assuming that all I have to do is to delete any *.nc file to delete the corresponding entry.

Thanks,

Tom

Tom,

You are correct.  There is no way currently to delete these files, except manually (which you cannot do on the non-local install at the moment).  I assume you are using the LSP output option (which Sean has a coded list of .nc files that you select for output).

Yes because for now I am just finally getting my head around using Nutcracker.

I will test out projects shortly.

It would be nice to be able to clear this list because after a number of effect creations it starts to become a little cumbersome to be sure I am clicking on the correct link to create the output I want.

Is it ok to clean out the local directory to clean up this list?

Thanks,

Tom

On a local install, just delete them. You are correct as to where they are located.

The software basically shows all *.nc files in that directory for you to choose. The *.nc files on nutcracker123 get deleted  when i run my purge program. I used to run the purge multiple times per week on meighan.net. I have not yet run it on nutcracker123 because we have more space

it is safe to delete everything in effects/workspaces/59

When you use projects nothing in workspaces/59 is used instead your files will be in

projects/workarea/{USERNAME}~{PROJECT_ID}

Here is what Kurt's projects look like on nutcracker123. Notice he does not use member_id's, he uses the actual username. Also one of his projects has all of the effects.
You wont be able to select individual effects in the Patterns tab. We did this on purpose so that the project builds the entire song into UserPatterns.xml and you only need to do one paste.

The project creates an nc file and the sequencer output files
{USERNAME}~{PROJECT_ID}.nc <= this is the completed song in nutcracker format
{USERNAME}~{PROJECT_ID}.vix<= this is the output from the above for Vixen

In the process of making the Project, Kurts code creates a nutcracker file for each effect
File format is
{USERNAME}~{TARGET}~{EFFECT}~{FRAME_COUNT}.nc
This allows reuse. If another project needs an effect that has been generated on this target that is 120 frames long, we dont need to regenerate/

project/workarea/kgustafson~MATRIX2012~MATGARLAND~120.nc
project/workarea/kgustafson~MATRIX2012~MATGARLAND~128.nc
project/workarea/kgustafson~MATRIX2012~MATGARLAND~132.nc

Again, Projects never looks into effects/workspaces/

If you generate a single effect, data is stored in effects/workspaces/{member_id}
if you generate a project, data is located in project/workarea

This will--most likely--change in the future.  I want project to be consistent with effect.  For the future (v2.0) I am proposing that there is a global user area under /nutcracker directory called workspace and that it will be subdivided by member_id (like effects are now).  In here will be housed all user generated content including effects, projects, models, etc.  Basically any file that is uploaded or generated by a user.  Just to prepare you for what is to come.

Is text being generated backwards? It previews that way.
