I received all of my parts today to build a USB dongle,  except I did not realize I need an adapter to program the pic.  Does anyone know if I can use the socket and header in my express to program the pic for the USB dongle? I have a pickit3.

Nope, its not the same pic or size.

You can build a home grown one as posted in the wiki
