mega tree effects
« on: December 30, 2012, »
for most of the megatree effects, should i have string 1 at the back of the tree?
and which way should i run my strings.

currently, i have string 1 front and center, then rotating counter clockwise as you look at the ground.
so...  string 1 front,
string 5  to the right
string 9 back
string 13 left

should i rotate my tree 180 degrees?

#1 should be at 9:00
Then normal would be CCW as you look at the ground, but that is not as critical. You would just have to reverse all of your effects.
Not sure what you mean about rotating 180 degrees.

i expected trees to be built ccw with string 1 at the 9 o'clock position. 6 o'clock faces the street

well maybe.

i am going to expand options for targets. Currently megatrees start at 9 oclock, pixel 1 is at bottom of tree. Someone programmed their SSC's so pixel 1 was at top. The actual SSC was connect to bottom of tree.

matrices i expect pixel 1 to be bottom left on vertical matrices and top left on horizontal. I want to make 4 radio buttons top, bottom, left, right. Just this year i had limited choices.

I think you still dont want to start your tree with the strand closest to the street. Most effects probably work, but what about text? I start text on your last strand and move it left, or cw.

Text starts on the last strand and moves towards the first strand. Probably not what you want if people are watching from the street.,

I will probably always start my trees at 9 o'clock.

in the past it was manually programmed, so when i did a sweep, or something, it didn't matter as much.

the "relearning" was for me to stop setting it up like that   <fp.

I too have my mega tree set up with string 1 at 6.00 o'clock but your logic of starting it at 9.00 oclock sounds good.

I used to start my mega tree with #1 at the back.

I had to rewire my mega tree to the 9 O'clock position as well because of the text problem.

It was a pain but well worth it this year.
