Need some updates

Ive been off the forum for a while now, haven't had the time or money to-do anything very exciting when it comes to leds and lighting. However I'm back just now and I have seen this dumb string controller, I want to make RGB LED tubes, are the dumb string controllers DMX controlable? From what I have read they aren't which is ashame as most of my other kit is DMX but cant me converted to the new kind of protocol (kind remember the name of it just now)

With "dumb" strings you would be controlling the whole strip or strand at one time. I believe you would want "smart" strings for RGB LED tubes, this way you would be able to control each light in the tube and have different effects, such as snowfall, ect, ect.
