I guess that the real question is were the 4 SSC's working prior to the strings being cut down in number of nodes.  If not then it needs to be checked that the SSC's are starting at the correct addresses.  While it is not necessary to readjust the string length set in the SSC, it will be necessary to set the correct starting address for each SSC if the node count has also been changed in the sequence to reflect the reduced node count in the arches.  Another thing to check is to make sure that there are no blown fuses in the hub.
