"with respect to the Sean's tutorial.
i have copied the portion of my excel workbook that is relevant to the NEW custom design feature.

in this workbook called star.xls
you simply design your custom art
then in column AI (that is A I not A one) simply COPY the cells that have numbers in them. highlight ONLY column AI from row 2 down to the bottom of your drawing.

make sure xlights is CLOSED
then open xlights_rgbeffects.xml (in notepadd++)
find the line with your custom item in it
in that line find "CustomModel=" and highlight and replace everything in the parenthesis marks"" with what you have copied from excel.
no need to worry about the way it is inserted because the excel import will produce many lines.
when you save it notepad++ will correct it
open xlights
your custom design will be there waiting for you
enjoy"

so very cool. You can load an image as a background in excel. Steve Gase, i took your snowflake where you had numbers and used it , worked great.

every time you save a model xlights writes the data to xlights_rgbeffects.xml

every time you modify the setup tab (like adding new E1.31 universes) xlights writes to xlights_networks.xml

All the recent changes lately are really awesome to see in xlights. v 3.2 with on/off dmx support (rumor of course!) and the lipsync and arch features is really going to make all the other sequencers redundant. Given this is my first year with this hobby i'm still very concerned that it's September and I still don't have my display layout nailed down I'm confident that sequencing is going to be quick and painless with all the features that nutcracker and xlights are offering.

Keep up the excitement!!  Looking forward to seeing how quickly I can pull together a "test" Halloween show come October and ultimately my xmas show come Dec 1st. Will be posting videos along the way!
